NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

It will be very hard for us, given our injuries, to go 5-0 down the stretch. That said, we do have a chance to win them all if we get some breaks. If we do we will most likely face Michigan in the title game. They appear to be much better than we are. But who knows! We can dream.

Even if we don’t . .this is where you want the team to be...not only play for a conference or national title, also being mentioned on TV getting free publicity.

I'm going to enjoy this ranking a this week....I picked us to 9-3....and I'm sticking to that....prove me wrong boys.

we control our own destiny

our remaining opponents have a winning % > 70%
our past opponents have a winning % < 40%

we are going to have a chance to prove or disprove we belong in the top ten in the coming weeks

if finish out at 3-2 ... a season record of 10-2 would be amazing

Michigan only beat Wisconsin 14-7, they are not invincible and I wouldn't bet against Riley in big games.

I'd hold your horses on national title talk. I'm very happy to be 7-0 and should be proud that we've done what has needed to be done to win every game so far, but as jlb321 pointed out, our schedule difficulty has been pretty shaky. If we go 1-1 in the next two games and don't get blown out in the loss, we probably still have a shot if we run the table, but let's not get ahead of ourselves right now.

As of today we are in the hunt.....should we tell them to stop ranking us high for being 7-0 and 10-1 in our last 11 games....the national media thought we would lose to Michigan St, UCLA, Oregon and Indiana in that run...we beat them all......Look Ohio St looked at the beginning of the season...now look at them...a loss in a game they were suppose to win.

I agree with you. Very happy to be undefeated and having won 10 of the last 11. I'm also hoping Westerkamp and Carter come back strong and our tackles get healed up this week, because it's going to be tough sledding the next two weeks if we perform the way we played against Indiana and Purdue (and most of the Illinois game).

Like has been pointed out in other threads, our team doesn't make the rankings, the pollsters do and we shouldn't feel any shame in being ranked where we are. But I think anyone who has watched our last 3 games against the bottom part of the conference (well, Indiana will probably end up with a winning record) would be say we don't stand much of a chance of going 2-0 against Wisconsin and Ohio State. We couldn't really run on Purdue's defense, and they were 124th (?) against the run going into the game.

Don't get me wrong, I will be absolutely ecstatic if we are 9-0 or 8-1 with a competitive loss.

While I absolutely agree 10-2 would be nice if that's where we end up then most likely that means we don't even get into the B1G Championship Game. I think we MUST finish 11-1 to get there with Wisconsin's toughest game being @ Northwestern. And the way Northwestern is playing with only 1 conference loss I think we can only make the CCG with 1 loss.

I say we just win them all and not worry about it!

Looking at the remaining schedule, that win over NW is looking bigger and bigger all the time. We will probably lose our next 2 games since our OL is beat to hell. NW will lose at OSU this weekend. Could easily be a tie if they defeat Wisconsin and we beat Iowa. Glad we have the tiebreaker just in case! Hard to believe the Wildcats are doing so well in conference.
