First of i back any coach that takes the helm. Yes i backed Solich, Callahan, Bo and now Riley. Im a Husker fan threw and threw. Like anyone id love to be the Huskers of the 70s threw the 2000s. But we are not, along the line we lost out on top tier recuits and the closest we came to that was with Callahan, i know a lot of you guys puke at the sound of his name but lets be real, the dude could recruit with the best of them, now only if he could coach or at least got a good defensive Co to handle that mess we had in defense. Hopefully Riley can pull in tye recruits like Callahan and Osborne could. If so ue may bring us back to the top 10 again.
Now my opinion on what i have seen so far with our Huskers. Tommy is looking like a great Big 10 QB. When his threws our on, the man is as dangerous as any QB in the country, but thats the deal, when hes on. When hes off, oh boy he can really look like a junior high QB, a back up at that with his accuracy.
Our RBs have shown promise, Newby looked great last night, kinda reminds me of M Lucky. Great hands, decent speed, isnt going to make many people miss and wont break many tackles, with good blocking he can tear it up but his down fall, he wont create yardage one his own. Wilborn, wow shoot me if you must, he reminds me of A Abdullah. Need i explain more? In the next year or so we WILL have our elite RB again like we had in Helu, Burkhead and Abdullah.
Our WRs our good, man i wish we had Person-El to go with the group but we dont and there holding there own, great group. Westercamp looks great, Moore looks to finally be that 4 start we got out of high school and the other guys have been solid.
So far our o-lne and TE have been up and down, against BYU there looked ok, rough at first then got better. Against USA, they did what they should have, controlles the line all game. So we will have to see how it looks the next few games. Hopefully Carter being back will lift our TE play.
As for defense, im going to talk about the group in whole. Our DEs need help, there not getting the preasure we need which leadss to double teams on Collins and Valentine. Our LBs with Rose look good, possibly very good, the safety play has been decent, Gerry looks good, the other just ok, i think A Williams just needs to take it over full time and get him ready for the future. Our CBs have covered pretty well but are not finishing. Rose, Davie and Kalu dont look bad, they nees to learn to finish and then we will be good to go.
So far im pleased, we look pretty good for a team with a first year coach and new schemes. Lets see how the rest of the season plays out. And come on guys, jump on board, these are our huskera and these are our coaches. Lets back them up.

Pretty much sums it up for me. Lots of depth issues on D due to our previous regime that are going to be tough on us this year. Supported every coach down the line but gave up on Bo very early. He's the ONLY one I lobbied to be fired. Even Callahan acted like a decent human being and is not a bad guy. Different duck, but not a bad guy. Despite all the PR propaganda, Bo is just not somebody I could support once "the cat" was out of the bag. Tom was warned before he hired him.

Thats just me calling it as i see it. A lot of other fans i have seen always jump to the extreme. Our issues arent that bad and not that far away to fix. Like dude above said, depth at some positions our thin and needing loaded up. So far i like what im seeing from Riley when it comes to recruiting. Hes in on a bunch of top tier recruits, which seemed like Bo never really was, he got the players who where Husker leans to start with. Being real, i pray he can land the guys Callahan pulles in or at least some of them. But if we are ever going to turn that corner fully on that rise back to the top, we need those play makers, and not just at a few spots. We need them all over.

We're a pretty average team at most positions this year with some terrible depth issues due to our former head coach. We never had a chance with lots of recruits with him at the helm.

On offense - I think average is a good description - except at WR - we are pretty good there. Oline is inexperienced - it will improve (don't know how high the ceiling is).

Defense - we lack depth at DE and LB - but- we are good enough at DT - we'll be hard to run on.

Secondary needs to execute better - we are lined up right and guys are in position.....just need to finish plays as you said.

Banker decided to blitz this week due to the lack of pass rush - it did not really get there like it should - I think having Bando and Young on the field would have helped that.
