Say what you want about it now but man when it launched it was something amazing.
I can still remember running home from the bus stop to catch the "world premier" of Paradise City

You strike me as a Handbangers Ball guy too!I am reminded of the Bowling for Soup song, 1985
Since Bruce Springsteen, Madonna
Way before Nirvana
There was U2 and Blondie
And music still on MTV
First video on MTV from that 1979 classic song, a bit of irony to the title. And no cable or satellite needed to watch back then.
The early to mid 80's were good, ZZ Top had some great videos, as did others.Take away the Addicted to Love video by Robert Palmer and the entire 40 years sucks.
Panama by Van Halen was my first great video I saw.The early to mid 80's were good, ZZ Top had some great videos, as did others.
back then, i preferred nina.Martha or Nina?
great tune.
Anyone who bashes MTV doesn't know or doesn't remember what TV was like 40 years ago.

Exactly. I am 46. Nobody that is my age grew up saying, “MTV is just stupid”Anyone who bashes MTV doesn't know or doesn't remember what TV was like 40 years ago.
I would say most the "Brain Surgeons" on here weren't alive 40 years ago! For me, MTV and few hits off the piece pipe were a regular occurrenceAnyone who bashes MTV doesn't know or doesn't remember what TV was like 40 years ago.
Yep. Loved Sledgehammer as a kid and also the George Harrison - I've got my mind set on you music videoI think MTV produced an entire generation in the beginning where you hear an old song on the radio now and the video pops in your head. So many but Peter Gabriel had awesome videos.
almost 80. thats nuts.Crazy to think how old Kurt Loder is.
In one episode they were watching a video I never saw before and haven't since. It was a frumpy-looking girl in a torn dress walking through a corn field dragging a hoe behind her. Butthead said, "Its a hoe." Bevis said, "Yeah, Yeah, but what's that thing she has in her hand?" Those guys ruled. We didn't have cable in Cortland for much of my youth so the only time I caught MTV was if I was visiting cousins in Lincoln... First video I ever saw was U2 "New Years Day" I was hooked! such a bummer they destroyed it...
Oh, and Beavis & Butthead will forever live in my hearts as one of the greatest! LOL! even though it was a show at least they incorporated videos and music into it...
