How does a coach who by all accounts is a fine coach, but has never had any serious talent advantage, do when for the first time, he arguably has a better roster than 11 of his 12 opponents?

It's pretty unique in the modern era. I can't think of too many instances where a long term respected coach with a mountain of experience, one who has never played from an overall talent advantage, has had a chance to use all of that experience in a world of virtually unlimited resources, extreme tradition, and singular focus within the State.

This alone makes September 5th a day that is a lot more interesting than other opening days.
