“[Louisville QB] Lamar Jackson, UCLA’s Josh Rosen and USC’s Sam Darnold are great, but Tanner Lee was my favorite guy,” said Woo, who helps build the Senior Bowl roster and serves as a liaison between college programs and NFL coaching staffs.

Wasn't Rosen a 6*?

Yes, highest rating since Mustain.

The Oline has to get it done this fall. This could be a very effective Husker offense if Lee can get some time to operate. Get the defenders out of the box and our backs are more than competent enough to get some good yardage.

Hopefully his ability to hit screens and short dumps to the TEs will help the O line by keeping defenses honest.

Damon Benning was talking this AM on his show about Lee's ability to move through the progression and find the open backside play to the TE which he hit consistently in the spring game.
Tommy Armstrong owes so much money to Cethan Carter it's not even funny how often that play was there and Tommy could never get there.
We'll see come league play if the same holds true Hoppes will be in for a big year. I think that TE will need to come up big for this offense to keep drives going. Teams like Ohio State and Wisconsin smothered our WRs last year. I was at that Wisconsin game. Need to find a way to keep the defense on their heels without just dropping back and dialing into (staring down) WRs like Tommy did last year.

Being able to see it and move through a progression seems to be one of those things you can only teach so much. Some guys can do it and some just never get there. I'll go to my grave wanting to see Tommy run Osborne's old offense, I think he would have been special in that system.

Fully agree about Carter. Hell of an athlete at TE and just couldn't get the ball to him. Most famously on that play when he's ready to walk in for a crucial TD on the screen and TA chucks a fade instead.

Gotta be honest, until we stopped catching defenses off guard with the YOLO bomb, we had great success gaining 15 yards at a time. I sorta will miss those things. No. No I won't.

Hope he has a consistent defense too. Not always looking for the QB to bail us out.

dont think theres too much running at the manning academy.

thats a lot of what made jackson a heisman winner so the fact that lee got better grades as a passer in tshirts doesnt make him at or even near Jackson's level as a college player.

Ok...so...when was the last time that a Nebraska QB got rave reviews from someone other than their personal QB coach? Maybe Brett Favre liked the way TA threw INTs?? I'll take it for what it is, and no reason to hate on Tanner and throw shade at him because you don't think he's at Jackson's level as an athlete, no one is arguing that. Tanner is our clear cut #1 and I am excited to see for my own eyes what he can do, especially in league play where Taylor Martinez and Tommy Armstrong always crapped out against good defenses and played with some of the best position talent that we have ever had in Enunwa, Kenny Bell, Ameer, etc. I am a fan of Tanner Lee after what I saw in the spring game, looking forward to this season

i didnt hate on anyone. i just dont expect us to have an all american at qb this year. hope to hell I'm wrong.

Would you "settle" for having the second best in the BIG behind Barret? We don't need a Heisman winner we just need a winner, period. That would be a big accomplishment with other established QBs in he league like Clayton Thorson who went for over 3K and 22 TDs last year. I think that isn't even Tanner's ceiling in this offense. Trace McSorley's numbers were good from last year 3600 yds and 29 TDs. I don't expect that but if we get somewhere between Thorson and McSorley Husker fans should be pretty pleased

I'd be happy with good, consistent QB play. Not knowing which QB was going to show up from drive to drive had to drive the coaches nuts. Tommy could look like an all American one half and a scout team quarterback the next half.

At Oregon, then 10/7 thru 11/24 will give Lee all he needs to show his skills. Just hope the other ten on the field with him and the coaches can make for an offense that will produce and give them a chance to win in what will be many difficult battles.

I understand some want to temper expectations, but this is really a big deal for Nebraska...at the very least, we have a settled starter who is built for our coaches system after losing a three year starter. That alone is good news, doesnt always happen. Add in that he seems to be a team leader and scouts love his arm and its a bonus. As Ive said in other threads, there is no way he is worse than tommy and likely will be a better qb. Thats kinda nice. He doesnt have to be an all american but theres a chance he could be our best qb since z taylor. Get excited

Hell yeah I am excited. He will hit open receivers and not throw junk passes 50% of the time

I don't know that he'll be second best behind anybody. Barrett has more talent than anybody else in the B1G to work with. I suspect when it's all said and done that Lee will be ranked higher than Barrett if he would for some reason decide to come out in the same draft as Barrett. There's WAY too many talent evaluators singing his praises for this to just be wishful thinking.

I really believe him having to sit out a year and learn the playbook is going to be the biggest factor for Lee... not many people get the opportunity that he has had.. to get the experience albeit at Tulane but experience nonetheless early and come to the big stage and be able to showcase his talent after studying with no pressure whatsoever in his first year..operating the scout team.. He's gonna be good I think as well

Boy heady concepts for some of you guys, huh? Nobody is saying Lee is a superior overall college athlete to Jackson. The statement was that as a passer, that guy liked Lee over the others.

So when you project that to the NFL where it's all about arm talent and they're getting over their little love affair with guys like Mike Vick, Tyrod Taylor, Manziel, etc. it could mean Lee will have attributes that pro scouts like.

So let me translate that for you. It means he COULD have exciting UPSIDE. Not, "Go bet 10,000 on him to win the Heisman."

The alternative is for him to attend these things and nobody has anything to say about him, he makes no impression. Would you rather that?

This...Riley and Langsdorf have sent some qbs to thr NFL right? Even though its his first year playing for us he has been practicing the system an entire year under our staff.

In 3, 2, 1...

Who is it that's gonna remind us that he was just a 2 star recruit no one wanted... career 50 something percent passer at Tulane?

That guy will be here soon...

I've watched his high school film. I don't understand how he was a 2 Star. Nebraska's current JUCO walk on QB, Andrew Bunch, was a 5.5 3-Star out of HS in Tennessee, and his film paled in comparison to Lee whom played at a much higher level of HS football in New Orleans.

Well if he doesn't run for Eleventy thousand yards on the 1st drive of the year.... then yes! I don't want to hear about it!

I really don't remember him looking like an all American for any half. Maybe a drive.
