I think the season will never get played. The university presidents and big 10 have put so many restrictions on numbers of cases and required time out after positive tests that it will be impossible to succeed. After which they will say we tried but we can’t play. In addition this avoids the lawsuits.
Bottom line big 10 presidents and league are still bunch of pencil pushing pussies.

Nope. Won't be safe until I know I can leave my house without there being the possibility that I could die. Life isn't worth the risk of dying.
I had a coworker who was chatting with her husband in the kitchen and he dropped dead from either a massive stroke or heart attack right in front of her. There is a possibility you can die without leaving your house. I have too much to do in life without thinking about all the combinations and permutations of how to die, so pretty much do what I have to do.

Much as I hate to think you might be right, I agree.

wow. Unbelievable. You need help seriously. There is a much better chance of you dying in a car accident then there is from COVID. Your life. Live in fear. Good luck with flu season

Those wanting to play had to concede A LOT in order to get a chance to play. No fans, later start (because some schools are WAY behind because they completely punted on fall fb), AND super stringent rules.

Those not wanting to play still don't and don't expect to

The risk of death is there every day with or without Covid. My life style hasn't changed with the exception of few places being closed down. I tried working from home because the option existed, lasted a total of two days, couldn't stand it and have been at work everyday since. If a mask is required, I'll wear one, but not many places in Utah seem to require it, so I don't. I constantly hear about this thing called Covid 19, but have never seen it. This is all about the politics and the fact hospitals get paid for each positive test.

A friend of mine lives in one of the more liberal Big 10 state and had a job interview at the Department of Health. In the interview they asked him how he felt about wearing a mask, and if he could take it off, would he. He stated he hated wearing a mask and preferred not to wear it. He was then told he could take it off and then they all took there's off. The head guy then walked in the room wearing mask, seen everyone without a mask and proclaimed, "oh, a mask free zone" and took his off.

Some of you need to check your sarcasm meter. I fear it has gone on the fritz (can we still say on the fritz, or will that offend someone?).

that he "hopes" they can have fans at the games next year.

If that's the case, Jesus come get me. I'm ready.
Yes, that was an interesting comment. The best part of univ presidents and medical officials having the heaviest of hands, and not ADs - they live, work, and worship in these communities. They are conflicted b/w the $ and traditional pageantry on one hand, and the science and health impacts, and economic impact beyond athletics on the other. Whereas, most of us fans and significant representation of ADs are not conflicted. They've been conditioned to spend every cent they make each year, and now there are few $ to spend and their hard decisions are now fiscal, not competitive.

I love cfb, glad they are going to play(fingers crossed), but personally relieved the attendance issue wasn't in the hands of individual ADs.

Now, it be nice if the mass, daily testing of the 105 FB players on Big Ten campuses could be extended to all students and all colleges, and other large employers in campus towns and beyond. There are employers with comparable or greater economic impact to communities than what our cherished fall past time creates.

It might be a 'market' correction time for Cfb and CBB. Arms races, outrageous (yet market driven) pay for coaches will have different scrutiny as sports are cut, budgets slashed, player organizing advances. The glory days of CFB might not be over, but the drunken sailor spending by ADs might be in for a significant change.

Here's to getting 9 games in and not screwing it up for cbb.

Why do we need "mass" testing of the students? Positivity rates are simply what is now being used to drive fear now that hospitalizations and deaths are rare. It's called a "casedemic."

This isn't a serious illness for young people and that's a scientific fact. Yes, I know that it is harmful to older people with co-morbidities and very rarely kills people who don't have co-morbidities, but that's true of other viruses, as well. The idea that people who are asymptomatic or are showing mild symptoms need to be constantly tested and if positive quarantined for 10-14 (or 21 days if you're a B1G athlete) thus disrupting their lives and the lives of those around them is not sustainable or logical. Add to that the fact that the tests are known to give lots of false positives and you have a continued false narrative perpetuated.

there is no good response to your claims. The information and mis-information are all out there. People either look at this ego-centricly or with larger community in mind.

Oh, you're right about the "no good response." It is a scientific fact that this virus is very benign in its effect on young people. Do you contest that? It is also now blatantly obvious that the response to it has caused catastrophic damage to peoples' economic, mental, and physical health that surpasses any good that these shutdowns have done. It's interesting that you hardly ever hear anything about that stuff from the politicians and bureaucrats who are pushing the shutdowns and mandates.

You're wrong thinking people who are opposed to all the testing are "egocentric" and unconcerned about the larger community. We are very much concerned about the larger community (see collateral damage mentioned above) and that's why we speak out about the governmental overreach that is doing so much harm and infringing on people's Constitutional rights in a very real and egregious way.

Ask Dr Fauci... he started that ridicules rumor. I cringed when the Almighty Oz spoke those words...
Well he did have knowledge of the Wuhan labs work. With bat virus’s and Other deadly viruses. One of the leading WHO scientists in China Li-Meng Yan has evidence that the CCP is behind this whole virus. Maybe instead of putting are head up Dr Faucis rear. We should get some other scientists opinions. She Again was one of the top scientists in a WHO lab in China, that was one of the lead researchers of this virus. While Fauci is a Washington bureaucrat who happens to be a famous scientist IMOP Fauci seems more political and in bed with big Pharmaceuticals and always looking to cash in on research grants. Fauci is a bit of a fraud if you ask me. So glad Trump has moved him aside. Before any of you left wing conspiracy Waco’s say that this is fake. How bought you let other real unbiased scientists see her evidence. Not the lab coat wearing journalst who scream fact check on Twitter with out showing what they found to dispute her claim. Saying you have a anonymous quack you know says she’s wrong is not a fact check. All the CNN journeys acting like science geeks should shut up and do their job If the FN media had just stayed out of this from the beginning We would all be playing Football by now. They have been working overtime to keep America shut down. During the Spanish Flu life went on. This virus has run its course a vaccine is coming yet the faucher has Again tried moving goalposts. Time to get on with living Nancy’s

Leotis - you're a solid and good poster I enjoy.

There is ample evidence on Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in kids, how little ones and young adults can spread (which is the premise for more testing - always has been the reason), and preventing spread to other demographics is the goal.

For sources - I rely upon the big health system in Lincoln, Bryan. They provide regular updates - daily March through August, but they have backed off to a couple of time a week as of late. You can view on YouTube or FB. If you want depoliticized status reports you can get them from these administrators, physicians, lab and pharmacy professionals and their infectious disease and epidemiologists. It's been interesting, honest, and revealing. And, they have also had specialist from their mental health and substance abuse programs involved in these briefings.

They have been transparent regarding supply chain issues, they provide daily testing and hospitalization numbers, have provided age breakdowns throughout these briefings, and answer live questions from the media during these.

According to them - yes kids get sick, yes there have been kids and young adults hospitalized in Nebraska, and yes they always note that they are at lower levels in severity, hospitalization and ICU utilization. But young people indeed spread, and efficiently spread - that is why the 'it doesn't impact young folks' argument is in the opinion of me, ego-centric, selfish, and in some cases ignorant..

A few other observations from these, in a recent briefing they reported that 39 of their employees have been positive, and none of them traced to getting it at work- ZERO. They said they have more than 5000 employees, and have had universal masking in place since late march. We're seeing similar results from universal masking in Lincoln Public Schools.

Additionally, since April these local folks have been imploring people to wear masks - so we can get back to normal, so we could see football, and so we could stomp the virus into the ground. Too few listened or cared, and apparently have chosen to get info from politicians instead.

And, at least the episodes I have viewed - those people love the big red, are huge football fans, even named their newest germ zapping robot Frosty.

They are a source for what's going on locally - for additional studies - Google. Mask up it works, and doesn't hurt anyone. Peace

In all this, not a word about the collateral damage this is causing.

0 positives between Houston and KC from last week. Don’t think it’ll be as hard to pull as initially thought

Fair enough. I've googled a few studies as well that support that masking isn't providing as much protection as we think it is. Some has to do with population, but the Scandinavian countries, by in large, didn't wear masks and they are essentially done with the virus. Sweden is a prime example where it burned through the population and they will not experience a second wave like Europe is starting to experience in some areas. If they would have protected their elderly and infirmed early on they might be the shining star. Lot's of interesting data out there and appreciate the level headed response.

Lot's of interesting info, and it will be interesting to see how all of this shakes out when a few years from now they can break all of the stats down and look into how to combat something like this in the future.

I know you weren't and that's not surprising.

Neither of those quotes address the collateral damage in any real way. The first suggests that it has been in the discussion somewhat, but it seems blatantly obvious that the powers that be have adopted a "stop Covid at all costs" approach and are putting very little weight on what is happening to people due to the lockdowns and mandates.

Quote two is a convenient way to scapegoat people who question mask wearing despite the fact that early on Fauci, the Surgeon General, the WHO, and the CDC all said that there was little to no benefit to mask wearing. Since that time there has been no new RCT studies that contradict that finding despite the narrative changing. So you can continue to say that masks are the end all be all of stopping the spread, but the best scientific evidence is not there. Correlation does not prove causation and all that. Plus, there's evidence that mask wearing isn't doing much to stop the spread in some communities. When there's contradictory evidence, it's even more important to fall back on the RCT studies that have been done.

You also state in your previous posts to Google studies and sources. I assume you are aware that Big Tech is censoring voices that are contradictory to the official narrative, correct? If not, you should be.

Good God. Yeah, the health care folks surely haven learned anything about prevention, treatment, and transmission since January. Go back to you Q sources. And save your fingertips- Your stuff is now ‘ignored‘ so I won’t be subjected to your responses. I sincerely hope you and those close to stay safe. It’s not pleasant watching someone you care about deal with this

Lol @ stomp the virus into the ground.

That doesnt happen. Viruses like this go through a natural progression where they are initially deadly and eventually just become a nuisance. Nothing you do can stop that, you can only slow down the timeline. Think of it this way: every time you get a cold, at one point in time that virus killed a bunch of people. Then it mutated into what it is today. Yeah, it sucks that we are having to go through that right now but its not like this is unprecedented.

Typical. Don't want to engage a contrary position so just get rid of it by blocking that perspective. I hear FB, Google, and Twitter are hiring. You should apply.

And I do have friends who have had this. It was inconvenient but nothing serious for them like the vast majority of people who this is not a serious virus for. On the flip side I have a mother who is in an assisted living facility and could not have visitors for a long period of time and now can only have them outside with masks. How's that going to work this winter?
