Just heard he has a torn ACL. No matter what you think of Creighton, this is one of the neatest kids playing the game. Consummate warrior, infectious personality, ultimate sportsman and a heck of a basketball player. Feel terrible for him.

I never ever wish an injury on anyone. Bluejays have lost a good one and will suffer from his loss.

Definitely not a Creighton fan, but I hate hearing this kind of new about any college athlete. Hope the kid heals up quickly after surgery.

It sucks. He was a good player and creighton was a fun team to watch. Don't have to be a creighton fan to enjoy someone other than Duke/Kansas/North Carolina contending. The fact that a Nebraska based team is having so much success should only lend hope to the NU program.

Its a real bummer they were a legit final four team and now I dont see them leaving the opening weekend of the tourney

I know that he got injured yesterday vs Xavier and it didn't sound good. I looked on twitter today and it was like the kid died or was diagnosed with cancer or something. Granted they were primarily Creighton honks, but injuries are part of the game let's not go overboard, no matter what sport you play. It is tough to hear a kid gets hurt, but man it was like the OWH reporters were talking about a funeral not an ACL.

Exactly. Over reacting is only allowed when Tommy Armstrong pulls a hammy.

Really sad for him. With his scoring and assists he was worth 20 pts a game. They are going to miss him a LOT!

I think he averaged 8.5 assists per game. If we use the lowest form of a hoop and assume his assists only resulted in 2 point baskets, that alone is worth 17 points per game. Throw in his 13 points per game, he is worth at least 30 points per game. Not saying another player can't also contribute points and assists, but his worth is even greater than the 30 that the math suggests. He was the heart and cog that started and ran that team. It's a huge loss to a team that was hoping for Final 4 or even to win it all. And in a year when there is no sure-fire dominant team, they actually had a realistic shot at it. Tough blow to a senior guard.

He was the perfect "1" for their system. He could push it and break down and penetrate a defense (even zones) like no one I've seen in person at the college level in a long time.

I am a known Creighton hater, but I feel real bad for them and this blow to their team!

Totally sucks, Creighton was a legit sweet 16 or better depending on the draw, which was probably going to be pretty great with their would have been record.

Potentially they were an elite 8 team with a point guard like Watson and a Center like Patton.

Sad to hear this. I was watching yesterday when he went down, and was hoping it would be something less severe. Jays did a good job of pulling it together after the injury and getting a good road win, though they got some help from Xavier at the FT line.

Maybe you should quit opening the thread since it's bother you so much.

Maybe you should stop rooting for another team in the state, and I don't care one bit if that team is from your hometown, or you grew up watching that team, or you graduated from there, or whatever excuse you have! There's one team you can root for in this state and that is the BIG RED.

O'DOYLE RULES.

It's fairly subjective to say how many points someone is "worth," but to account for it like you have for everyone, there would be something like 123 "points" for every game. (Creighton averages 87 points and 18 assists.) You're double counting if you give him credit for the assist and someone else credit for the hoop. You could even take it further and add in points for extra possessions due to steals and offensive rebounds.)

Yes, and it's not like the impact is going to be steady across all games. There will no doubt be some games in which Creighton does pretty well with Watson's fill-in manning the point, and others where his absence is a killer.

I don't think it would be possible for me to care less about who people think I should be rooting or voting for.

Go Bluejays.

You root for Nebraska, and that's that. Otherwise you are not allowed to root for or even participate in discussions about Nebraska football. I don't care if Creighton doesn't have a football team either. Now that is all.

Huge loss - most important guy to CU for what they do on offense. Look for alot less scoring and more focus on defense to try and knuckle drag some wins vs. good Big East teams.

Depends on how many minutes they play Mintz vs Zierden. With Zierden slower game, with Mintz similar pace to Watson.

I’ll never understand people who live in Nebraska but hate Creighton. Even if you don’t want to root for them, both are still good national representatives for a small population state.

And I’d that bet having a few top-10 basketball games being played a hour down the road is a nice selling point for recruits as well.

I'll never understand people who think that just because a private school in which a good portion of the student body don't even come from the state happens to sit inside the borders of Nebraska, that I am thus supposed to not only not dislike that school, but according to some people, I am supposed to actually cheer for them. Never mind that there are Creighton supporters who actively root against Nebraska in all sports-I guess I'm not supposed to care about that either.

I've said it before, and I will say it again-I had no particular feelings positively or negatively about Creighton prior to our first CWS appearance. When you don't live in Omaha, there is little coverage of Creighton and they are hardly even on your mind. The reaction from Creighton fans to Nebraska fans treating us as if we were hicks and hillbillies who dared to show up to their invitation only garden party at the CWS changed my view about them forever and made me actively dislike them. It was almost as if we were supposed to apologize for having a baseball team good enough to be in the CWS, and even more have the audacity to show up in large numbers and cheer for our team.

You cheer for a the athletic teams at Nebraska where a good portion of the participants don't come from the state of Nebraska. Not a single scholarship basketball player, and only 2 of 20 scholarship football players from the 2016 class from in state.

But they are representing the university that carries the name of the state of Nebraska, that we support with our tax dollars and in which most of the student body comes from Nebraska. Where the players who are actually on the sports teams are from is irrelevant to me in that respect-it's who they represent.

I dont get fans that cheer for Creighton hoops and also root against Husker Hoops but cheer for the Husker football team...that makes no sense to me ....that being said I cheer for all the D1 schools and when UNL plays Creighton I just usually root for the home sqaud or dont watch at all

IMHO it will be apparent in every game from here on out. It is highly unlikely that Mintz is gonna run the point like Watson has so far this year.

Cheer for Husker hoops over Creighton all day every day, but enjoy watching Creighton win as long as it's not against Nebraska. Thought the Bluejays were a top 5 team this year, but without Watson, not so much. Creighton beat Wisconsin pretty easily, but that was early.
