Mo Washington seems to be in trouble

Did anybody read the article? She and the two guys left the school after the video surfaced. Pretty sure if it wasn’t consensual, that would’ve been different. I may be wrong, but if a girl is sexually assaulted by two other students, she wouldn’t be the one to leave the school. I’m thinking more embarrassment?
Course, kids can be cruel so we really don’t know the whole story here.

Please explain in detail what the staff did about it. Don't say, "made any public acknowledgement of it," "dropped his scholarship" or "didn't play him right away as a true freshman."

An investigator on the case said the Sheriff’s Department has been unable to interview Washington during the months-long investigation after making requests through the University of Nebraska’s Athletic Department, as well as Washington’s former attorney, Jon Bruning, who is the former Attorney General of Nebraska.

The investigator said Bruning questioned whether charges would actually be filed against his client when contacted last fall by the Sheriff’s Department.

“The general air was, ‘Is this really as big of a deal as you’re making it?’” the investigator said. “I explained to him that we do take these cases very seriously. Cases like this can have severe consequences, especially for the victims, throughout their entire lives, and we were investigating wholeheartedly because of that fact.”

Bruning, reached Friday by NBC Bay Area, declined to comment on the case.
The same Bruning who sits baseline front row at NU basketball games? I assume so and believe he is an NU booster since those seats typically require a seat donation. Probably not the best optics either.

That's not how it works, sweetheart. It's not my job to prove they didn't *secretly* do anything about it. It's their job to prove this isn't what it looks like, that they knew this kid did something real shitty but tried to sweep it under the rug because damn can he juke a defender.

It's going to become their job to explain to reporters why they continued to honor his commitment after learning of this incident before he ever qualified academically. Then they'll have to answer as to what, if any punitive actions they took at that time. If none, they'll be asked why.

Like I said, they're behind the story. They're the ones now who are going to get grilled about this when instead they could have taken control of the narrative and made a big show of putting him into a counseling program, etc. Instead the University has made zero public acknowledgement that they knew of this for 11 months.

So it’s everyone else’s job to explain in detail what the coaches did or didn’t do?? Your asking everyone on the message board to give YOU details. It’s ridiculous, your acting like the tipical old fart, that sets around the small towns of Nebraska, and assume everything you hear is instantly true. That there is not two sides to the story. I swear old farts like you, first thing you hear is automatically true, no need for courts, judges or any of that. Burn them alive now. Who needs facts from BOTH sides.

So. The guys who perpetrated the act were not publicly punished anyway, but the kid who was stupid enough to keep the video is going to be. Seems about right for California law. Normally, in my state, IF a minor commits a violent crime, which rape certainly is, they are tried as an adult. If tried as a juvenile and convicted they end up incarcerated at least until the age of 18. I would have to think there has to be some question at least of whether or not this was rape. This stinks of a smear by an NBC affiliate of a football player. JMHO.
Did we're any of the so called rapist charged? Or is mo the scapegoat

So he can transfer to bama or Clemson, didn't look like the wife beater issue at Ohio state hurt them
OU would take him in a heartbeat. Heck virtually every program in America would take him given what we know thus far. Sigh. I'll let Frost deal with him. I've got my own progeny to deal with.

Also the same Bruning who would probably throw the book at a kid for selling a little weed.

I'm an old fart and I'm going to let the courts and Frost worry about this one. I don't really give a damn about the PR hit. It's Frost's decision.

I'm sure if those other 2 were high profile football players we'd be reading articles about them too. Not saying it's right, but it's the way it is. Plus those 2 were already "dealt with" right?

Mo didn't just keep the video. He texted her back the video saying, "Remember this hoe".... I mean what a huge POS.

Maybe Mo has grown up since March 2018 and I'm not even calling him to be kicked off the team yet, but we've seen how he's acted on Twitter so I'm going to guess he still needs a lot of growing up to do.

Didn't bama and Lsu or another sec school just in the last year have a couple of players charged with sexual assault? And I believe it all got washed down the river

From the OP's article; "Although she did not report the incident as a rape at the time because she says she felt ashamed, Taylor told NBC Bay Area the video depicts a sexual assault, not a consensual sex act. Taylor alleges the teen boys in the video forced her into having sex after telling her they were going to a fast food restaurant. NBC Bay Area is not naming the teens because they were juveniles at the time and were never charged with sexual assault."

Correct (from what I understand) in that Mo wasn't involved in the acts.
He was not involved in what happened on the video, nor was he even present. Whether it was consensual or not has absolutely zero to do with Mo.

Sweet Jesus you can't spell or read. You don't understand what I've posted at all even though I've gone over it at least about 4 times for you. Part of me wants to try explaining it again, but the wiser part of me is putting you on the ignore list.

Also the same Bruning who would probably throw the book at a kid for selling a little weed.
First hand, Bruning bent over backwards trying to keep kids from going to the pen for "selling a little weed". You had to sell "a bunch of weed as in garbage bags full" and do it repeatedly to get even county jail time. You over estimate the rigidity of the sate's prosecutors.

If you say so. Go head attack me. It’s fine. I read what you put and I see you jumping right down the judgment train. Typical of guys like you.

Out of curiosity, what did I miss spell?? I have an iPhone that automatically changes and fixes my mistakes.

Oh those two things sound equally bad, sending a girl a video of her having consensual sex or sending a girl a video of her being raped?

And here I've been walking around with this weird belief that rape is really bad...

There’s been enough weighing in on the gravity of the circumstances, but thought it’d be good to post Maurice’s life story as something noteworthy (unrelated to judging the current incident).... sorry if already posted and I missed it. Whatever happens to his future on the team, I hope he can mature and become a stable good man after some difficult times of instability.

Oh is that what I need to do is leave it up to the judicial system? While you say with no evident basis that it was a consensual act, in direct contradiction to a quote from the girl involved?

Is the judicial system going to sentence him to be kicked off the team or is that still not a thing and up to the University to decide based mostly on how they feel it will play in the court of public opinion?
My brother was accused of rape in college. Some girl got drunk with him at a frat party, hung out with him all night, and ended up in his room at the frat house until the wee hours of the morning. The next morning, she walked home and then accused him of rape. It took MONTHS for the truth to come out. Fortunately, his roommates testified to her knocking on his door after he had already returned to his room for the night. She just found his room and then climbed in bed with him. Her boyfriend was pissed that he couldn't find her until the next morning, and rather than tell him that she had cheated on him, she told him she was raped. Finally when her friends testified against her "rape" story, he was cleared.

Maybe her word is enough to convince you that she was raped. So far, there isn't much outside of her saying she was raped that backs up that accusation. There will be plenty of time to rip this kid once we find out the facts. Until then, what's the trouble in sitting tight and waiting for the story to get put together?

In late 2014, Bruning, together with Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt, filed a suit in the Supreme Court of the United States in which they asked that Colorado's Amendment 64, which legalized marijuana in that state, be struck down. Bruning and Pruitt argued that the Colorado measure violated the Supremacy Clause of the U.S. Constitution, since the U.S. Congress had enacted the 1970 Controlled Substances Act, which imposed a nationwide ban on marijuana.[19][20] In connection with the suit, Bruning declared that marijuana was a "gateway drug that is a detriment to society" and that "I don't want it to be a legal option for my children or your option or anyone's children in this state or in this country."[21]

Don't want to speak for Beav, but these kind of stories are ones that can get national play and given that nature of the it, can give the program in question a black eye. One of the dictums of PR and damage control is if you are explaining, you are losing control of the narrative. If the kid was expelled from Trinity over the incident, one could argue that the expulsion was the punishment. But then NU has to answer as to why they wanted the kid on the team and whether there were any interventions taken to reduce the chance that Mo would engage is such stupidity when at NU (I suspect the answer is no). I think Frost saw him as a must have, with skill set that could be used in many ways. And given the academic issues (and likely his stupid revenge porn antics), he was available to get. The PR hit was to happen down the road and the program would cross that bridge when it appeared in front of them. Probably no way to make this look good and that cake was baked before he got to campus. Mo's skills in Frost's offense uber alles. Very 90s.

Two totally separate issues. Sounds like she's certainly considering moving forward with rape charges, but that will require her to be able to get police and prosecutors to take up the case. The video will certainly prove the encounter happened, but no way of knowing if it makes clear she didn't consent. A rape happening and being able to prove that it was rape are very, very different things.

Sounds so far like the crux of Mo's issue is whether it's porn if you only send it to the person who was in it. I really doubt they stick with a felony charge in light of that, the spirit of the law involves sharing the materials with others for the sake of shaming a person involved in those materials.

Brining sounds like a tool.

In bed with Pruitt. Nice. States rights for me, but not for thee.

Quite a divisive topic, I’ll wait for details, but sending the video, keeping it, & on top of it all sending it to the girl is incredibly dumb and horrid.

When it comes to what happened etc, I’ll let that part play out.

There’s a lot of bad looks in here.

The inability of people to read and comprehend the article is astounding to me.
Some of us with good reason don't open links on here anymore. Good way to totally wreck your computer. I quit several years ago. I unfortunately made the mistake recently though of opening a link on Huskers.com and immediately was confronted by a bunch of Chinese print for who knows what.. And I've got a really good anti-virus program.

“They’re driving this way, and I’m like, ‘Jack in the Box is back that way,’” Taylor said. “And I said that probably 30 times to them, and eventually they pulled over at this park, with houses on the left hand side, and they’re like, ‘We’re going to have a threesome.’”

Taylor said she froze, terrified.
