COLUMBIA, MO. • Missouri’s loaded defensive line will be a little less loaded this season.

Defensive end Walter Brady, a freshman All-American last season, has been dismissed from the team for violating undisclosed team policies, and defensive tackle Harold Brantleyis no longer with the team after failing to fulfill academic expectations, Missouri team spokesman Chad Moller said Wednesday.

Players were scheduled to report for preseason camp Wednesday with the first practice set for Thursday. Neither player was immediately available for comment.

Brady started nine games last year and tied for the team lead with seven sacks. The Florence, Ala., native led all SEC freshman in sacks and tackles for loss with 12.5.

Brantley missed all of last season after suffering multiple injuries in a car accident but was expected to return this season. Just last month at SEC media days, Tigers coach Barry Odomcomplimented Brantley’s work in the classroom and his work rehabbing from last summer’s wreck.

Couldn't happen to a much better team IMO. Wish that freshman DE was eligible to transfer.
