Just looking at their schedule. Could they be 9-0 when they come to Lincoln? Crazy but they have a really favorable schedule! I think they can take down Penn St on the road and handle Iowa at home.

Somebody really needs to look at the disparity of schedules in the West division - There should never be a year when a team does not play at least one of the top three teams in the East - last year it was Iowa this year it is Minnesota and then Wisconson plays all three this year.

It is not fair and and does not allow the best teams to rise to the top

I totally agree! This scheduling is a head scratcher no doubt.

They haven't exactly impressed much this year so far. They had unimpressive wins over Oregon State and Colorado State and a big win over FCS Indiana State. They really haven't even been tested yet.

Prior to the season, I thought they had a great shot of being 7-2 when they come into Lincoln. I would be very surprised if they beat both Penn State and Iowa. Neither of those teams is very good, but the Gophers really haven't faced any team of that caliber.

And on top of that:
The last time we played Michigan at Michigan we play them again at Michigan.
The last time we played Ohio St at Ohio St we play them again at tOSU
The last time we played Penn St at Penn St we play them again at PSU
The last time we played Sparty we played them at home the next time we play them we are at home again.
:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:.

the BIG needs to go to 16-18 teams and be done with the cross divisional games

too much disparity with the unbalanced schedules

Wisconsin had it easier than Iowa last year believe it or not. Next year Nebraska has the east conference schedule. The numbers just don't match up for the west to play MSU, Michigan, OSU every year. I do think some system needs set up to where division games are some how weighted more than the cross division games.

Easy fix is just have intradivision games count for who goes to title game from each division. Other games are still important for national ranking and making playoffs or bowl games, of course.

Agree. Just don't count cross-division games in the division standings in determining the division representative for the conference title game. Simple as that. Crazy thing is, the MAC already does that. Maybe make "common cross-division opponents" a bottom of the barrel tie-breaker just in case of a three-way tie with identical #-1 division records (like the Big 12 South in 2008).

I thought our last Michigan game was in Lincoln when the QB got hurt?

He's too smart to go there I think. A good chunk of their fans make the worst Husker fans look sane and rational. Furthermore, it's going to be a while before that program recovers from the sanctions, and there's a ton of ground to make up to catch up with OSU, Michigan and MSU. I don't think James Franklin is a great coach, but it's going to take a while for Penn State to be in a position to attract someone better.
