Michigan

Boom! Watching Michigan and Minnesota has been painful. Minnesota has absolutely ZERO playmakers on offense. Great defense, but awful offense. Same with Michigan. Just awful...

Michigan's D has looked good. But they are struggling to run the ball and Ruddock is bad. Morris must be a total bust to be riding the pine behind him.

This is clearly a "cupcake" game for Michigan.
Is that why they were 7 point dogs? This already reminds me of what he did in the first year with the Niners. Uglied up games and had very limited skill players on offense. He is great at staying in games and having a chance at the end. It will work well there. And he may stay a while because after 4 years of him, the kids will move on naturally.

Utah's all-reds are appropriate, because they are trying their best to Santa Claus this game away.

Good Lord - the officials gift Michgian a touchback on a ball that wasn't even close to the goal line. Some things never, ever change. What an awful call.

Screaming Gus can finally stop openly rooting for Michigan now. Ugly win for Utah, but still glad they got it.

Iowa fans seem unsurprised that Rudock still isn't a top-flight QB. Harbaugh doesn't seem to have a lot to work with on offense other than a reliable TE.

Jabril Peppers is going to make a LOT of plays for the Wolverines, though. How many times did Utah whiff trying to block him?

Michigan is a very well coached team. They didn't panic or lose much composure even when trailing and getting stuffed in the running game. They stayed the course and if not for the lack of efficiency by the QB they would have won this game. That's a sign of good coaching and a team that is bought in. That being said if you're going to run that style of offense you have to be very efficient. Ruddock missed 3 would be TD's and threw 3 picks one going for 6. Defense was very stout.. Michigan will only get better throughout the year because you can tell they're bought completely in..

I think I would hold off on any criticism until you see us play. First year systems are far from perfection, and we are going to see some ugly plays coming from our own team on Saturday.
I fully expect us to look rough, which would be 1000 times better than UM's offense. They looked like it was their first practice. I believe that JH will get the to a good place, but the

Michigan would have won that game with even mediocre QB play.
Agree with this. Utah is not a bad team, but there are reasons the Utes are picked to finish 5th in their division - ahead of only Colorado. Utah killed itself all night with stupid penalties and crappy special teams play, and Michigan still couldn't capitalize.

Michigan D looked good - but that was not unexpected. Rudock was pretty aweful.

I disagree. They were sloppy. Somebody needs to teach that kicker what an on-side kick is. Maybe they were a well motivated team. Maybe JH is a good coach who will turn things around in the next couple of games. But, as of right now, they are not a well coached team.

Simply, the better team won that game last night. Call it coaching. Call it talent. Call it anything you'd like. Utah was the better team and it wasn't in doubt. Now, one might ask the question of how Nebraska would have fared against Utah last night. I think Utah is a nice team, probably pretty comparable to BYU. I'd like to believe Nebraska would have beaten Utah last night, but we'll learn a lot more tomorrow!!

+1

Utah looked strong last night.

when 2 teams have relatively equal talent .. games come down to turnovers (Mich 3 - Utah - 0 - not counting the hail mary INT to end the half) and execution in the 2-5 plays per game that are potential game changers -- Michigan missed wide open WRs for TDs on 3 occasions

ballgame utah

Rudock looked alot like he did at Iowa. Accurate passer on short to medium routes. Not as good on the NFL throws to the sideline. Abysmal on the deep ball.

Michigan has a terrible O line, they couldn't open a hole if they had a shovel. On some of those deep throws Ruddock had overthrown the receiver he was nailed about the second he let the ball go, if he had another second to throw who knows.
