Outside of doing chores, I'm taking the Christmas eve and Christmas day off beginning at 5pm today to spend time with the kids and grandchildren playing games and watching fb and going to church. So I decided to ixnay on nonessential stuff...including the Husker board unfortunately. So to EACH AND EVERYONE of you people, MERRY CHRISTMAS AND GBR

Just cleaned up a huge pile of grandkid puke out of my wife’s new designer light grey swivel rocker. Listened to twin 16 month olds, a five year old and 3 year old whine and fight most of the day. The only thing that shut them up was going with me to the farm to feed cattle.

Then when the fighting commenced tonight I took them out in my tree nursery for a night hike with flashlights. If they act out tomorrow I might take them out to the tree nursery and leave them. 🤔. Man it’s great to have them home from a thousand miles away though.

Sorry for laughing, but you should set up bleacher seats and sell tickets. Your place during the holidays sounds more entertaining than Nat'l Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.

My Christmas is a little too quiet, and I fear it'll get even more quiet very soon. My daughter and SIL are temporary foster parents to a 6yr old boy. It's the first time anyone in our family has been involved in the foster care system. We all said at the beginning "this might be emotional and hard" but we had no real clue what we were saying at the time.

Total reunification with bio dad has accelerated at lightening speed and that it's happening around the holidays is gut wrenching. We all want the best for him of course, but it's very hard wondering when might be the last time I see him. I love this little guy. The bio dad has told my daughter his son loves our family and he would like to see him continue to have some level of a relationship with all of us going forward. I hope it goes that way. So try to appreciate the trials & tribulations from the littles in your life. Everything changes too damn fast.

The state makes way too much effort to reunite kids with bad parents.

Merry Christmas to you and all in your family trying to make a difference in the life of a young boy. Your entire family is in my thoughts and prayers this Christmas season.

35 years ago my employer learned of a little girl who was in the system because her parents punished her by burning her with cigarettes. He and his wife had two teenage boys but they took that girl in and eventually decided to adopt her. The mom fought them in court for several years before they finally got it done.

Of course as a 16 year old she got pregnant and they ended up supporting her family. The story the last I knew had a happy ending. Those folks are saints. The things they endured dealing with the biological mom and the girl’s issues were beyond what most could take.

Merry Christmas! I am cooking dinner for seven. We are all old orphans except for my wife. Skiing has been very good, and the best part is no snow down here in town to shovel. Have to sign up for Netflix so I can watch the Chiefs. Always miss Nebraska at Christmas time. Great memories of my parents, siblings and friends. May have been the best time of our lives for my family while growing up. Peace.

Nothing like going out to a farm when you are a kid. My paternal grandfather lived on a small farm outside Albany, Oregon. It was too much fun to go there as a kid. One of my earliest memories is being taught not to touch an electric fence. (What is it with you grandparents and puke? In an ongoing group text with my ski crowd, two guys have been texting more about what is coming out of their grandkids' orifices than what is falling down from the sky.)
