Mel Tucker could be the new

he was UGA's DC

he was also the interim HC for the Jacksonville Jags for the final 5 games of the 2011 season fwiw. went 2-3.
Mel was also a grad assistant at Michigan State under Saban. Assistant at OSU and then in the NFL before going to Georgia. Good resume. Not really a "name hire" like some propose to replace Frost.

I do think he's a good coach. It's yet to be seen though if he's a good head coach. CU is a dumpster fire with the guys he left on the roster at CU.
If he gets MSU rolling reasonably well, he'll get called back up to the NFL.

he was absolutely a big name hire when he went to CU

not many coordinators skip G5/lower levels to accept a P5 head coaching position for their first lead job unless they're very hot commodities

Well the fact that he got that job was news but not that many people knew who he was when he took it. CU was/is a dumpster fire.

Haha
Husker fans LOVE the flavor of the week.

'Matt Campbell could finish the season 1-11 and Husker fans would be talking about what a great job he did.
He could finish 11-1 and you'd be unimpressed because the team he lost to was an underdog.

in college football circles, the Tucker was extremely well known. he'd been hand-picked by Kirby Smart to come to UGA from Bama with him to run the defense, which was consistently a top 20 unit and came a Tua miracle throw away from a title.

plenty of folks had no clue who Frost was, prior to October of 2017.

Imagine missing out on the playoffs because you lost at home...to a team you were favored to beat...because you don't hold your team accountable for turning the ball over and over and over.

Imagine that being your ONLY loss and someone thought your season was unimpressive.

Except they have more penalty yards per game than NU is so....

Tucker is 2-0 against Frost and company even though Nebraska did more to lose than CU did win.
They have one of the nations best Turnover Margin. Heck, even Alabama and Ole Miss are are more penalized than Nebraska right now. High efficient Red Zone scoring offense. Solid Defense.

Mel Tucker is a Big Ten guy. Wisconsin player, Cleveland native, and the Spartans went out and got a replacement for Mark Dantonio, who was also on the same staff at Ohio State, ironically.

Mel Tucker has had 27 players enter the transfer portal since he became Head Coach and got 17 players through the portal. It is going to be incredible hard to build a program like that.

Maybe, but I'll bet they thump the Huskers this weekend. They're playing really well.

You are correct on that. Should have been here when Syracuse beat Clemson a few years back and they were pining for that coach….Dino Babers? It gets pretty humorous.

Thanks...did not realize his resume had so much B1G linkage. Who knows...maybe he'll stay there for a while. But eventually the NFL comes calling and I imagine it would be tough to say no. The more you look at the resume, the more it looks like a solid hire for MSU. We shall see on Saturday.

I'm not sure that was a negative for their program looking at how they're playing. We'll see what they're recruiting is going forward. The transfer portal is his friend right now.

I can see getting a handful of players in positions of need but 27. Watching Michigan State play Miami I really don't see any Big 10 players except the transfer RB. They looked average. The line play to be honest looked worse than Buffalo. This being a night game on the road should make it tougher. We have better players at just about every position. I honestly don't seeing this being close. I see us winning by 4 scores.

Who have the beat?
Northwestern 1-2 only win against FCS Indiana State 24-6 1st game with new DC
FCS Youngstown State
Miami 1-2 only win against Appalachain State 25-23
