Maryland Prediction Thread

Whatever the final score is we need to it be a blowout. Every conference game we've played so far except for Ohio State has been close, even against teams like Purdue and Illinois. Yes we won those but those games should be 45-10 every year. Blowout wins boost confidence and morale and we need a solid lopsided conference game win.

if weatherunderground holds true, weather shouldn't be much of a factor. chilly, but, not bad at all. huskers 27 maryland 16

I hadn't seen a prediction thread yet so here goes........

19-3 in favor of the Huskers.
Huskers without Tommy are pretty bland. With Fyfe at the helm, we become very predictable on offense and turnover prone. (Don't think Fyfe would start for S.Dak.State). Newby and Oz better have breakout games, and DL better find a few passes and jet sweeps to keep Maryland defense honest. Even though we should win fairly easy, there is very little margin for error. Huskers with Fyfe - 17 -14; with TA we should win 28-14

28 - 17 Skers - I hope I am wrong (Score, not who will win) but so far lately we have not played well enough on Offense to blow anybody away. Healthy Offense with Tommy at the helm and we win 38 -13...

NU 38
Maryland 21

Fyfe shows us fans he can play...completes 65% of passes and looks sharp.

GBR

Maryland 38
Nebraska 14

Edit: after hearing of their freshman dual threat qb, and seeing his film, changing my prediction..

We cannot play down to this teams level, they do have some good athletes and if they get a hot hand could may it a serious game. Huskers need to get up on top and put this team away early, Terms get down on themselves and give up. Their top RB Harrison is out due to not following teams rules. Their QB has a tendency to throw interceptions, he can run if not watched closely, tends to be injury prone, but they do have good lengthy receivers. Terps try to run outside with the jet sweep. Need to watch for the QB throw back pass. Huskers should win by at least two TDs.

Without TA under center I have no clue. I guess it is all on the o-line's back. If they can protect Fife then we should win without issue. Hopefully, we can establish the run. That would take the pressure off of Fife.

I can tell you a couple facts with how the oddsmakers are handling this game. The spread opened at Nebraska -14.5. It has only moved one point to -13.5. I assume that has to do with the uncertainty of Tommy. The total is 50. So they are in essence looking at Nebraska 32 - Maryland 18.

I think those guys are pretty good, so I'll go with:

Nebraska 31
Maryland 14

Huskers in a cover and under the total.

With a gimpy TA:
NU 38
UM 17

Without TA:
14-3 at half.
NU comes back but still loses.
UM 17
NU 13

An inept offense puts the defense in poor positions to stop Maryland.
...............................................

Of course the more I think about it, RF put up like 45 points against Purdue last year, so the offense might actually score plenty with him, so I change my mind. Probably 3 INT's but a win.

NU 38
UM 27

Last year the game plan with Fyfe was to pass, pass, pass. If they tone it down a little and run more, maybe that opens up the throwing lanes a little more and Fyfe has a big day passing.
Hopefully the Huskers are up early so Fyfe doesn't have to pass 48 times.

Tommy needs to not risk worsening his hamstring for another week so we have him available for Iowa which is a much bigger game than Maryland..
Fife and Darlington should do just fine leading us to a W.

Both starting QBs are out.

FyFe is getting the nod for Nebraska. And Tyrell Pigrome, a 5'9 true freshman option QB from Alabama, will start for Maryland.

This is just a hunch, but I doubt the kid from Alabama has ever played in a football game where the temperature as kickoff was 35 degrees.

Makes me a little nervous. I've seen too many unknown QB's come in and make a name for themselves over the years. And a 5'9" option QB sounds like a little jitterbug that could be hard to get ahold of.
Hope the defense and Ryker are ready to play today.
