Valentine was absolutely crazy for leaving this year! 17 reps is pathetic for a DL. Good grief
Yup, tied for last among all D line, methinks he needed another year in the strength program. And before someone chimes in with the he's taller, longer arms argument...Alex Lewis 2 inches taller and did 27. Jano smoked them all!! Valentine will get manhandled by NFL O lineman.

many have said that this draft might be the best in decades for def lineman .. VV got some horrible advice
heck I'll be interested to see where Collins lands

Too bad we couldn't sync up the new DL coach timing with VV's declaration. Got to wonder if coaching played a role in his decision.

I'm happy for Andy. He'll make a hell of a player for whoever drafts him.

Does Collins even go 2nd round? With this I don't think VV gets drafted earlier than the 5th/6th if at all.

I agree, i get why Collins bounced out but Vince should have never left early. There was no reason at all for him to go early, its not like he would of waisted a 1st or 2nd rounder if he stayed and got hurt. I bet he goes free agent and eventually gets released and joins Candian league or something else. I really have no clue who would of told him "yes your better off going early and passing on your senior season". He could of added strength, turned some fat into muscle this off season, kicked some Big 10 olinemens ass this year and polished it up with a possible 3rd round pick or better next year if he did good his senior season. No offense, love the dude, he's a Husker but that was a moron move and will end up being a waist in the league this year.

 He's already graduated and had injury problems this past year. I guess he figured another year of wear and tear on his body wasn't going to help his draft stock and he didn't want to risk another injury. I'm not sure that going to class was his favorite activity either. Too bad, he could have worked on a graduate degree that would have helped him when he washes out of football.

Yes, especially after spending 4 years at a Div. 1 school with top strength and conditioning facilities and opportunities. Speaks immensely to the level of commitment.

VV tried to lazy his way through NU, like high school where it was good enough just to be a big dude. Tired of strength coaches yelling at him to do something, he got out as soon as possible. Hoping to get a paycheck. Unfortunately, the NFL doesn't need lazy fat guys. I wouldn't draft him.

Assuming he makes it, he's has to hope he makes it to a second contract. His first might not be too stellar.

Lol I usually don't even bother responding back to the stupid spelling correction shit i catch on here sometimes but this time it was my dam Iphone 6s fault, it added the spelling for me and i didn't pay attention. Was more focused on my point and a little less on the correct use of word. Like where, were, wear and stuff like that. Maybe one day I'll go back to college and then MAYBE I'll be up to par for some Husker fans.

i remember listening to Jason Peter interview once and the topic of Valentine came up and Peter chuckled and said something to the effect that in the pros "tape doesn't lie- they are going to watch EVERY snap before making an investment" and then laughed and called him big fatty or something to that effect-- it was spot on. VV could have been a beast, smh

When one of your "team leaders" spends the entire off-season conditioning program badmouthing the new staff, and complaining at every turn about "this isn't what we used to do".... these numbers are nor surprising. I am actually impressed 71 did what he did at the combine. Lots of talent there, maybe he will be better in the NFL if given a shot. There will be nobody left to blame except himself.

C'mon man. I understand you're not a fan of VV, but he's still a kid in college. Luckily you're an overachieving guy behind a keyboard...
Agree that some are being a little to harsh on big VV but at what age do we stop calling the guy a "kid". Vince is at least 21 or 22. He is no longer a kid and you shouldn't blame his bad habits / decisions on youth.

I know this has been addressed 100 times, but Football on the 2012-2015 wasn't all that fun. Look at the two DLine coaches and the lack of winning anything of importance. He didn't leave school early. He has a degree and was there four years. He left on time. Remember, it's a lot more like a job than ever before. It's not easy to be on the team. Not much freedom when doing that and being a full time student. He left for more than one reason. I assure you if "anyone" on the Husker team had ever won a championship or NU had won anything in the 2000's maybe things would be different. Iowa and Wisconsin have a more desirable history since 2000. As does Kstate Mizzou, and even KU played in or won an Orange Bowl. It's difficult to be as bad as we've been. That said. I'm 100% the current AD/Administration/Staff is all systems go. 2016 is going to be the "finally" moment IMO. Finally win some big games and not lose little games. Not be the shoot myself in the foot program. Finally recruit/sign a handful of big time National Recruits, not 1-2. I wouldn't be surprised with wins over Oregon and OSU. GBR!!!

In my opinion, with the lack of production Vince had this year, he should have made sure he could consistently put up numbers Suh did during his combine or close to it. I'm guessing both Collins and VV both looked at Randy Gregory and how it played out for him last year and thought they could pull the same thing. Collins sure but VV is know where near the talent Randy was. NFL teams looked at Randy and knew if they could improve this or that with him then they could have a monster on defense. There not going to see it that way with VV.

So if he's 21-22 that makes it acceptable for what I'm assuming is a grown ass man to call a 21-22 yr old a lazy fat ass? It shows more about the poster than VV. Should we call every NU player lazy if they don't make it into the league? I mean they do have everything available to them so if they don't make it's on them. He didn't show well at the combine. How does that personally negatively impact anyone on this board?
