When you look at a long term graph of Nebraska Football since 1900 you can clearly see alternating cycles of Winning and Losing. From 1900 through 1940 NU Football was pretty successful on average although there were a few lean years such as 1918 and 1919. From 1941 through 1961 NU Football was simply awful until Devaney arrived followed by Osborne which returned NU to national relevance that lasted until the late 1990's. Since then things have gradually trended back towards a period of mediocrity. The last cycle of mediocrity lasted 20 years so hopefully we are within a few years of ending the most recent cycle. Thus the big question is can Riley turn the program around and lead NU back to relevance within the next 3 to 4 years.

Let's hope history repeats itself, I'm feeling good about it.
