- Baseball will now allow 6,100 for the Rutgers series, which is the true 75 percent capacity of Haymarket Park.
- Moos starts with Husker bowling winning the national title. That was Nebraska's 29th national title in school history in all sports. Moos had lunch with the bowling team, and President Carter also invited the bowling team to his house for lunch.
- On the groundbreaking: "It's very special all that have verbally and officially pledged to this project. We didn't lose a one of them." They needed to get their pledges up to $80 million and they surpassed that. They hope that during the phase of construction they can get the additional $20 million they need to get it all done at once.
- The shovels will go in the ground and cranes, bulldozers and trucks will come right in. Moos said everywhere he's been projects like this raise the overall morale.
- It's a good feel around the department with the weather warming up this weekend and the spring game with the baseball series. They hope to have as many as 40,000 at the spring game.
- Tickets will be available on game day, but the prices do go up a bit if you buy them day of.
- Frost told Moos this is the best spring since he's been here, which makes sense with the way the program has evolved. They have more depth and more "major college football" players. When you have good depth like that, spring becomes critical.
- On tickets this year for football: They hope to be back to 100 percent capacity. If that is the case they will be allocated in the past. Renewals hopefully will be coming out shortly. He's confident they will continue the sellout streak.
- Concessions will be open at the spring game.
- How many games should the football team win? "We have a tough schedule. Probably the toughest in college football." They play Ohio State, Michigan and Oklahoma. Then division teams like Iowa, Wisconsin and Northwestern. Moos knows they will have their work cut out for them, but they have a lot better depth and experience on this team and they feel like they can compete in every game. He'd like to get back in the 8 to 9 win area and he feels that's a realistic expectation. They have to protect their home field and make it a hard place to play again.
- The important thing about Saturday is it will feel like Husker football again.
- On not having paper tickets: They won't have paper tickets because of COVID. They will also carry it on through the fall. If there a lot of issues with that, they want you to call the ticket office. Doesn't sound like paper tickets are coming back any time soon.
- The Board of Regents approved the first phase of the new track. They are starting to do some work to get things prepped because the window for construction is tight there. They still plan to have that out at Innovation Campus. 25 percent of NU's total student-athletes are track.
- They are going to start a discussion about a new swimming facility. They hoped to do it sooner, but COVID delayed it. That will be back on the table, as will facilities for the two golf programs. Everyone will be happy after swimming and golf get addressed.
- Game on Sept. 4: They are exploring that right now. They have talked to Southeast Louisana about moving. Everything had a domino effect after the Ireland trip got canceled. Frost would like to play on Sept. 4 to have more games in the front end when you count on the weather and have recruits here early. A lot of kids have their mind made up by mid-October. They hope to have a game on the 4th.
- The 2-point conversion in the second OT will really change the game followed by the third overtime rule of only having two-point conversion plays.
- Moos is ok with the new rules that limit the full padded practiced in August if it protects the players.
- On playing other schools in the spring? He's really never talked about it, but nothing would surprise them if eventually, they allowed something like that in college football.
- All the reserved seats for baseball this weekend have sold out. Still some GA left. 6,100 total are available. Moos said it took a fight to get this from the Big Ten, but he's glad they got to this point. He's just thrilled about baseball and the job Will Bolt is doing.
- Moos said he got a message from an assistant coach from Minnesota about how great it was to come to their ballpark and have fans.
- Moos was asked about Big Ten Women's golf champion Kate Smith, who shot a 64 to win the title. He joked he's not sure he's shot a 64 on a front 9 before, let alone 18 holes.
- Moos said they will have the main gate, first base and the outfield gate open this weekend for baseball.
- A caller said if you have an Android or Google device, there are lots of issues folks have with the mobile tickets. Moos said they will look into it.
- Moos is excited for the May 8 graduation in Memorial Stadium. 80 student-athletes will graduate and Tom Osborne will be the speaker.
