Check here for live updates from today's press conference introducing Dave Rimington as Nebraska's new interim athletic director.
Rimington and Chancellor Ronnie Green are scheduled to meet with reporters from 1-1:20 p.m.
***Green and Rimington have taken the podium.
***Green said Rimington's appointment as interim AD is "up to 60 days". Green said the first person he thought of for this position was Rimington and this was his idea.
***Green said Rimington represents everything as Nebraska student-athlete should be, both on the field, in the classroom, and is his success after NU.
***Green said he could have selected any of the current members of Nebraska's senior leaders in the athletic department, but he thought it would be "a missed opportunity" to not bring in someone from outside the AD who could bring new ideas.
***Green said Rimington is a proven leader with the work he's done professionally after football.
***Green said the search for a permanent AD has been going since the middle of last week and they are actively looking for a new hire. They're finalizing a search firm, and will also use a search committee of University leadership, former athletes, and current athletic staff and leadership.
***Green said they need to find the "absolute best" candidate for this hire, and the process will be confidential. Green said they will be aggressive in the search in both effort and timeliness.
***Rimington thanks Tom Osborne first and foremost, then thanks Boomer Esiason for entrusting him to run his Boomer Esiason Foundation.
***Rimington: "I love this place, and I'm willing to do anything to help. I'm not here to fire anybody. I'm just here to calm things down."
***Rimington said he is not a permanent candidate for the AD job, but would like to work for the athletic department in some capacity in the future.
***Green said they will be announcing the search firm sometime today.
***Rimington said he's followed Nebraska football from afar, listening to a lot of games on the radio.
***Rimington said improving the walk-on program and former player relations are his biggest goals as interim AD, and he'd also like to help pick the permanent candidate if he can.
***Rimington said he hasn't even thought about what he thinks NU should be looking for in a new AD, saying "I don't even have a place to live here yet." Green said they cold called Rimington and it just took off from there.
***Rimington said Nebraska "is like the Taj Mahal of college football."
That wraps up today's press conference.
