I was reminded again of the unrealistic expectation level that a lot of RSS members and other college football fans, and I include myself in this, have for the college game while watching Pro Football yesterday. The very things that I get so pissed about when watching my Huskers, to the point I start cursing, throwing things and simply making an ass of myself about to the point the wife shakes her head and leaves the room, I see in every game on Sundays.
Watching Aaron Rogers and the Packers last night really reminded me again that I need to just simmer down and try to enjoy the games I wait all year for. That game and many others yesterday were full of foolish penalties, bad clock management, wasted timeouts, special team blunders, and play by an All Pro QB that made me wonder if maybe I'm too hard on my Huskers and Tommy in general.
We dissect every players every move and micro manage every decision our coaches make. This is what we as fans do and that's ok. But when I watch these players whose livelihood depends on their level of play and who spend 8-10-12 hours a day working at their profession make the same mistakes D1 college players and teams make it makes me temper my expectations just a little.
Yesterday I watched these pros with all their experience and after having 4 pre season games and one regular season game make the same mistakes I see on Saturdays. I mean if Aaron Rogers had played like he did last night for our Huskers on Saturday imagine what RSS would have been like.
