Just throwing it out there! Gets to coach on a team where his son will be playing?

It's mind boggling how little is known about LM.... Square peg, round hole. We've had 2 decades of that nonsense.. Les is a O-line coach..

All for having him aboard the offense, just not apart of the defensive staff.

Yep. Would be like suggesting bringing Pelini on for offensive coordinator at Bama when Kiffin left.

He could coach the TE's for us but that's about it right now unless Cav is fired or he's taken on as the 10th assistant.

Sorry to be disrespectful - but these posts are making Nebraska fans look ridiculous. Beyond the point that Miles was a national championship HEAD coach, Nebraska is not a top HC gig anymore, and the guy is not a defensive coach, do you seriously think he would come coach underneath a coach that his resume trumps?

I don't think it's a far fetched idea about Miles coming here. I guess it's possible he could come coach his son at TE/ H-back.

The guy still wants to coach some more. Unless he gets the Purdue gig I don't see him getting another D-1 spot. Yeah - far fetched, I know. He could be N for a couple years until a new HC position opens for him. His Pedigree if TE, line - got that- But as a HC he still knows what good defenses would be like. Granted he's never coached it before- I get it - but to say out the gate he couldn't do it at all isn't quite right to me either. I agree, it wouldn't be the best, but a big name to help draw recruits.

Can you imagine if we hired an offensive coach to be our defensive coordinator, just because he may help draw recruits? My word.

Amen!

The Purdue job was filled December 5.

Guessing he won't be getting that gig.

Of course he won't! He has been a lock for our DC since his committed!!!!! Wake up sheeple!

I hear companies all the time hiring CEO's to work in IT. They have to know IT, since they ran a company! If it works in the real world, it'll work for Nebraska. Come on down Les, you're our man!

Even if you have never watched a down of football; a quick Google search would tell you that Les' expertise is along the OL.

I guess I was kind of a hybrid opinion in this debate. I think in another thread, I expressed interest in having Les on-board under Riley in some capacity, probably administrative/recruiting and maybe something with the defensive side of the ball in that regard.

IMO, any kid who is 16-18 years old is not going to understand that Les Miles was an OL coach. (It appears half of our older fans, do not understand that). He was a very visible face of a program that made its name through defense. Its been a hot minute since we associated offense with his image.

IMO, using his fame to help land coveted slots like DE, DT, and CB (and yes OT too), would be more valuable than necessarily reverting him back to being Cav's helper or something like that.
