Watching the Ohio State comeback game from 2011 on BTN right now. Lavonte is lost. Lines up out of position frequently with Compton having to put him in the right spot. Some plays, particularly when he drops back into zone coverage, you can see that he's not really sure what to do. Still, throughout the game you catch flashes. Everybody remembers the strip that turned the tide in the game. However, there are several other plays that you just see this guy read, react, and make everybody else look like they're moving in slow motion.
Now he's one of the top 3 outside LBs in the NFL. He's been calling the plays on defense since he was a rookie. Still has that raw talent, but now has the knowledge that makes him a perennial All-Pro. Keep this up and stay healthy, I believe he's got HOF talent.
