Langsdorf is getting too cute again

We all agree. Was the 2nd and 9 bullet to Reilly a good call? Or still no comment?

The second to last series was terrible play calling. The final series was well called but also well blocked. Amazing how much better I think the offensive play calling is on runs when blocks are sustained.

Break down what they did wrong, play by plau on that 2nd to last series please

Ran to the teeth of the defense, threw a low-percentage pass which was poorly executed and stopped the clock, third down appeared to me to be more execution-related by TA.

So they ran into the middle, where they had success all night, didn't convert on a 2nd and long that was mis-communicated, and Tommy ran for his life after a terribly blocked counter (not into the "teeth" of the defense). Did you bitch when Reilly caught the pass to get a first down deep in our end on the previous drive?

I am not arguing with your view if you think the play calls were reasonable at the time. I did not like the calls at the time. I do not care for the calls now.

I had a few beers in me at the time of the one call all game long I objected to. When the Huskers were 3rd and 1 at the three, they were driving right down the field old school Husker style. Before the play I even said they better not get cute and even try to throw the ball. I said put the ball in Tommy's hands and run for the first. If they are stuffed, I don't feel anyone would complain that they have to kick a field goal. They get cute and try to surprise UCLA with a throw and it don't work. They then kick the field goal and we all lose our minds. Big difference in how they got there. Really dumb call in my opinion. Pretty good game plan the rest of the way.

Those kinds of calls cost us more than one win this year. Interesting how we went to the run tonight---I think a lot of folks have been clamoring for that all year. I even saw a fair amount of deception. Well done.

Pretty damned good game plan and some pretty good play calling this game. Yes, there were a couple head scratchers, but there isn't an OC out there that doesn't get a few play calls questioned every game. Hope these last few games have given us a look into the future of Husker football. Let's go finish recruiting strong, have a great spring and go on to next year.

I think the staff did a better job of incorporating Tommy running the ball this game. I'm sure some of it had to do with UCLA's defensive makeup, but the QB runs seemed to flow better from what we were doing than in previous games. The game plan was as close to perfect as it could have been. It played to the team's relative strengths, it played to Tommy's particular strengths and it helped the defense immensely.

I loved the game plan and it was a good win against a talented team - The running game took the pressure off TA and they also used TA's legs some in this game - I do think Langdorf still just likes the pass and cannot help from calling pass plays when a run would be better

The big question is this how they will approach games next year or is it back to passing 45 times a game

You take what the D gives you. Often times DL wants to outsmart everybody and come up with some cute play that usually fails. Pound the damn rock!

Reilly needs to tell him to cut crap out through on 3rd and less than one. What BS

Great Game by Riley and Langsdorff, except for the 3rd and foot. Langs just can't help himself sometimes. If we run this against Illinois, Purdue, NW, Miami, and BYU, automatic wins. Iowa and Wisconsin just needed fewer turn overs. We won the turnover battle. Tommy had zero IMO, that crew was like K State 1998.
