First of all, that was an awesome win last night and probably the most fun I've had at a home game in years. That said, was anyone else somewhat at a loss for words with the Koch Industries ad that ran which highlighted Keyo Craver's game against Rice in 2001? Essentially, the ad went on and on about the terrorist attacks and how that was the first game back after they occurred. It was all very patriotic, which would have been fine if it weren't, at its core, an ad for a giant corporation that was exploiting 9/11 in a commercial.

I don't know how our athletic department can see something like this and feel like it's acceptable. It would be one thing if it were the university running a feature highlighting the game and the importance it held at the time. It's something else, though, when you allow a multinational corporation to run an ad that is essentially, "9/11...a horrible attack on our country...Koch Industries is awesome." It was an embarrassment to see that sort of exploitative garbage on the big screen.

I agree completely. Those Koch Brothers have been a cancer to politics for some time now, and it sickens me to see an advertisement of such nature inside Memorial Stadium.

Are you saying you don't want any advertising by corporations - or just certain ones?

I agree with you but my intention here was not to get into a bigger political issue regarding the merits of the Kochs because I think that distracts from this specific advertisement, which was despicable in and of itself.

Craver was freaking awesome. That guy doesn't get mentioned enough when we talk about great ex-Huskers. As far as the 9/11 thing goes, I've come to accept the world is one big commercial anymore, so whatever.

depends, if koch is rand (atheist) capitalists, or calvin (biblical) capitalists?
I have no problem with calvinist capitalists pointing out the vile works of mohamidans.
but I don't think rand capitalists have the footing to do so, logically.

stupid attacks on people you don't know shows a real lack of intelligence...easy to attack people who have wealth whom you've never met. Drop in sometime,Gucci...then make a decision.
Just because I haven't met the Koch brothers, doesn't mean they're not a cancer to U.S. politics. It doesn't take a genius to conclude they're a source of political corruption in D.C.

The Koch brothers have come out and stated that they fully expect to get favors for the billions in bribes they give out. They don't try to keep it secret, plus there is the environmental damage that they lead the nation in.

The Koch brother embody everything that is wrong in this country. Greed, corruption and the Ayn Rand/Paul Ryan philosophy of screw you, I got mine.....not to mention that they are the number one environmental polluter in our country.
Anyone can find ethical problems with just about any corporation. Alcohol corporations have a big influence on sports, but to the percentage who suffer from alcoholism, who have lost a loved one to a drunk driver, or have watched it split their family apart probably have a problem with them advertising and using 911 or other events to promote themselves as well.

You do know that there's many more people who give politicians more money than the koch brothers do, and many of them donate to a certain "we say we hate rich people but we really are the rich people" party.

It's sad how right you are. The Koch brothers are catching the most hate in this thread because of their advertisement in Memorial Stadium. Both parties see HUGE campaign financing contributions from these rich corporations. If only there were a third-party candidate running in a major party who would put a stop to all of this corruption...

Guess you will agree to shutdown the Clinton Foundation too and send Hilary's butt to jail?? Greed, corruption and selling possible national security information to our enemies for money is right up there with environmental pollution. Or is it just conservative groups you are angry with?

OMG!! You can't be serious. You want a socialist/commie running this country? Not to mention a buffoon. Khrushchev must be laughing at us from his grave. You people are gonna prove him right, we are gonna destroy ourselves from within.

I think he's just making an example of the Koch brothers; however, Clinton receives huge donations from the like of banks and financial institutions. While they may not contribute to environmental pollution, they still heavily represent their own personal interests which don't benefit the United States as a whole.

Socialist/commie? Hardly. Educate yourself on what democratic socialism is, and how it provides more benefits to our country as whole over our current system.

That is a nonstarter as a comparison. The Clinton Foundation does acts of charity around the globe. The Koch brothers stated 6 months ago that they will spend $980 million on this election cycle to affect the elections. Do you think they are trying to affect the election in a manner that will help poor people or to help build their bank accounts? They are straight up bribing officials to have EPA standards lowered. Yes, there are such billionaires bribing officials on the liberal side as well, but none remotely to the tune of $980 million in one election cycle.....and those are their own numbers.

I'd like to see the documentation of the 980 million statement directly credited to their words.

You won't. I love how some people (and there are MILLIONS of them who would bark about the Koch's) talk about environmental issues and continue to pollute themselves by driving cars, air travel, gas furnaces, etc. ONE car may not be a big deal, but the millions of cars and other fore mentioned used by those same people ARE large in scale. Such hypocrisy. Too funny.

So, the whole thing about an advertisement running in Memorial Stadium that used 9/11 as a prop for a major corporation...anyone else have a problem with that without getting sidetracked on other things?

Yes, the ad was in very poor taste. It is also ridiculous to think that anyone who has a problem with the Koch's extremist political views and unethical practices is some sort of liberal hippy. They are intentionally destroying economies and hurting people for their own gain (see the state of Kansas). And BTW, driving a car is not the same as large scale environmental pollution.

Most of Clintons' Charitable Donations Went to Family Foundation

Bill Clinton's book "Giving" devotes a great deal of space to the charitable habits of the world's wealthiest inhabitants, and it details some of his own efforts on behalf of AIDS patients and victims of natural calamities.

But it was only on Friday afternoon, when his wife's presidential campaign released family tax returns for the past eight years, that the world got a glimpse at how he and Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) have managed the tough kitchen-table decisions about how to parcel out their own wealth -- including the $6.3 million Bill Clinton received as his "Giving" advance.

After earning more than $109 million over eight years, the Clintons took tax write-offs for $10.2 million in charitable contributions. In most of those years, that money was donated to the Clinton Family Foundation, and a portion was distributed to charitable causes.

So, the Clintons made $109 million and gave 10% to charity, while the Koch brothers have vowed to spend $900 million of their $100 Billion to buy the elections and to buy the favor of politicians in basically every single jurisdiction in this country. If you don't see those as different, I can't help you. The Koch brothers have recently decided they need to get their hands into higher education, so they can buy the minds of our college youth before they learn nasty liberal doctrine in college.....doctrine like caring for your fellow man and other crazy stuff like that.

Born n bred red obviously doesn't care that the koch brothers are ranked 49th in giving to politicians, and also must think that the other 48 (mostly liberal contributors) don't expect to get anything in return, and would also prefer someone lying about charitable giving and using funds raised in that charity for their own personal use and gain as opposed to some billionaires spending money they earned and being honest about why they are spending it.

Got it. You, sir, are impossible to understand and mindless dolts like you are the problem with this country.

It's a good thing too. Because you are obviously not a genius. Stick to football. Hopefully you know a little more about that.

Please link me the stories showing what 48 people have personally vowed to give more than $900 million to buy the 2016 election and I will admit my error.
