Kind of an odd situation going on at TCU

May have dodged a bullet when we didn't sign that kid, I remember his being somewhat highly recruited late in the process.

Edit: I should have been more clear when I wrote my comment. In reading the story, it sounds like Patterson told players *not* to use that term; not clear if he actually said the term at that point, but so far, it sounds like Dylan Jordan's characterization of the event isn't that credible.

Article attached shows there is the some disagreement within the players. Worth watching to see how it comes out

Good practice to ban the phrase as a coach, I don't recall if it was NFL, NCAA or both where you get an unsportsmanlike if you say it on the field. Can't be in the habit of constantly saying it then expect it not to come out of your mouth on Saturday.

HOWEVER as a white dude you don't wanna say the word out loud, that's a no-no word.

Players of a different race than the coach don't want to be told what to say, or to act like by said coach. Old school coaches need to get that through their heads, or they oughtta just pack it in. Your heard, Kirk?

Why you calling out Kirk? He has no problem with the N word, he LOVES the N word.

This is where you convene the players leadership council and hash out this bs.

The town of Rock Ridge would disagree:

So what should Patterson have done differently?

The odd thing is how we are raising kids.
Theres nothing wrong at all with what patterson did.
If this is racism to a level warranting a player walk off in 2020, we have a huge problem.
If we as a society cant call this out for what it is, BS from a player who is obviously misguided and needs redirected so he doesnt go through life as a miserable victim, then we as a society have huge problems.

Patterson did nothing wrong here. Jordan is the idiot who chose to go to TCU to begin with. Sounds like a diva who is trying to stir the pot. Glad to see players come to Patterson’s defense. As for Spielman, good luck on mental health development there.

were you there? then how do you know what happened? because you rely on twitter for accurate, reliable information? You know what's a bigger problem? people ranting about other people from 1500 miles away. you're getting all worked up because you think something might have happened or read something on the internet that said it did. unless you were there and heard the discussion and observed the circumstances then there is no basis for jumping to conclusions except it exposes your magnificent desire to complain about one of your societal opinions. if you dislike victims you can just type it here whenever you want. you dont have to wait until you think there is an opportunity to make you opinion look stronger by highlighting instances that might help make your point but in fact you really dont know anything about. You're just hoping that what you heard is right. Hoping so bad that you just accept whatever the first thing the internet says about it instead of waiting or just acknowledging that things are almost never how they are first described to the public

Kinda fitting. The N word is bad. Kinda like N football the last 2 decades.

Do we have to be careful when we say Make N Great Again??

You post this crying and say Im the one all worked up?
Twitter is the only place to go by as this is where he complained. It is also where some of his teammates came out and said he was wrong. (Kudos to those guys).
My post is according to the current writings and evidence at hand. The “this” when saying “if this is racism” is obviously referencing what we all know. If theres more to know, we will find out.
But based on what we know, this is BS and we should not accept this or tell him this is okay, because we are only setting him and others up for a life of misery believing they are always a victim.

Ill let you get back to your crying now.

we indeed have huge problems as a society

Totally fair for Patterson to call out players of all races about the use of that word...ending in the hard er or a.....that being said he certainly could have called him out privately without actually using the word himself. A white man in a position of authority will always have to be delicate when dealing with the use of this word by black players.

This happened to a teacher in Colorado. Two girls asked if they could use a song in a school function that contained the N word. The teacher said no, it was against school policy. The girls than complained that they were discriminated against and he was fired. He sued and got his job back but the administration still refused to admit he was in the right. It's scary right now. We either stand for what is obviously right (certain derogatory words are banned from use by everyone) or go into a death spiral as a society.

Sounds like Patterson may have used the N-word to call out a player for using the N-word and then used it again to deny he was using it in a derogatory manner. My lord, our politically correct, SJW world is spinning off its axis.
It's got more to do with culture and little to do with politics. Being an idiot with word usage cannot always be blamed on not being politically correct.

Your right. It is culture. The culture of half this country being addicted to social media. A large percentage of this country says stuff on social media they would never say to anyones face. All kinds of people rely on 3rd hand social media for their news and opinions. The stuff that I hear people say they heard on social media so its true , including 50 year old adults, is just plain shocking.

Sounds to me like Patterson and Jordan are both idiots. The only smart one was the player sticking up for Patterson who actually thought everything through.
