I am proud to announce that I have committed to The University of Nebraska! #TeamSailer #GBR #HuskerNation
==============================
Kicker Jamie Sutcliffe decided on Friday to accept Nebraska's preferred walk on offer and we spoke to him Saturday to see why he chose to be a Husker.
"Yes, I did and thank goodness! The stress for my family and on myself has been immense, but now it's finally over and it's just a big sigh of relief. Nebraska is just amazing and I'm very happy about my decision."
Sutcliffe was asked what put Nebraska over the top with him.
"First off, talking with not only Coach (Bruce) Read, but the other coaches as well, has made everything a lot more simple. The second thing is, when I came to Nebraska for my unofficial visit, the one thing that pretty much struck me as making them my number one choice was how many Academic All-Americans the program has had over every other school. That made my choice a lot easier.
"Not only that, when I came for my visit the coaches and some of the players that I met were extremely welcoming. You know, they welcomed me with open arms and Coach Read was just awesome from the start and it just made Nebraska being my number one choice a lot easier."
Sutcliffe said that he will be arriving in Lincoln around June 6 or 7 and that he plans to compete for all of the kicking jobs this fall.
"They pretty much just said, 'Hey, you're going to come in and we're going to see what happens'. But overall, I'm just looking forward to competing every single day that I'm out there. I'm looking forward to meeting every one of the players and coaches as well, and I'm just excited to get there."
Sutcliffe will be returning to Lincoln for another extended visit on April 3-6 to watch some practices.
"I'm just very excited. I talked to Coach (Chris) Sailer and Coach Kohl from Kohl’s Kicking and they're very excited about it. They think it's a great fit for me and I'm just ready to go ahead and have the best two years of my life being the best kicker that I can be. I'm just looking forward to competing and I'm very excited."
