Looks like @Dan Hoppen is to blame for his concerns about being a starter. At MSU he doesn't even think about those things....

With about a week to go until the start of the season, Kevin Williams injured his knee during practice.
"He's in the mix, he's a co-starter," Dantonio said. "Whether he starts or whether one of those other two guys start ... will be determined at game time. I can just say he's had a great camp. He can play at a very high level and he fits in our scheme."
When asked about his place at the top of the depth chart, Williams just brushed it off.
"I honestly didn't even see it," he said. "I try not to really think about those kind of things. That's not what it's really about for me, it's about just getting better day in and day out, helping everybody out, bringing everybody else around too."
