I see Kevin Williams is going to start for MSU.
I wonder how long it will be before he is injured again?

MSU booted 2 DT playmakers earlier this spring. That's 2 less to compete against.Or it shows that Michigan States depth is down at that position.
And NU lost what, about 3 or 4?MSU booted 2 DT playmakers earlier this spring. That's 2 less to compete against.
Never said he wouldn't.And NU lost what, about 3 or 4?
He would have started here, it is okay to admit that.
I will not rest until you admit it! hahaNever said he wouldn't.
I agree with this, especially since he is playing for a conference rival who we could, in theory, end up playing against in the title game. While I don't wish him any harm I ain't wishing him any success either. He falls under my "whatevs" category.
Yes we're (MSU) is thin on DLine. True 2 DLinemen were booted..one was an DE and the other a DT. Also had another Valuable DT decide to retire. Thus we lost 3 of our top 6 DLinemen. Thus the need to bring in Kevin Williams and a transfer DE. I'm definitely concerned about DLine depth.MSU booted 2 DT playmakers earlier this spring. That's 2 less to compete against.
Physically or emotionally?I see Kevin Williams is going to start for MSU.

Most teams have holes -- its up to the staff's to patch them. I think it is important we start getting some of these graduate transfers ourselvesI think it's about time MSU sends some players back our way. We are pretty thin on the OL and need a DE that can rush the passer.
We can spare a RB, LB or DB...but def not DL or OL besides your OLine was exceptional vs MSU last year. What happened graduation?I think it's about time MSU sends some players back our way. We are pretty thin on the OL and need a DE that can rush the passer.

Agreed. I think it is true that these coaches are very blunt about where a player stands. It is leading to transfers; but seems its where there is depth or where the player will probably be locked at third string or so with recruits coming. I would guess he was told to expect he could be behind Newell; then their were the twins emerging as the most athletic lifters on the team. .... So reps might be hard to come by; he could be left as an apparent often injured reserve. Going to MSU gave him a chance to get a true starting spot in a good system; where he could seemingly excel. It could give him a shot at the next level; because he has made a move and succeeded. And I must consider; some old war horses, may not easily gear up to a new coaches 2% improvement a day system. I am wishing him well; and certainly hope all concerned take a positive track. We will benefit from the transfer options; it gives the players something closer to a free agency thing and a shot - look at what it did for Russel Wilson. GBRIt would absolutely be ok to admit, if it were true.
During camp Maurice was a lock, Stoltenberg was hurt but the 2nd starting spot was between him and C. Davis.
Williams was already lagging behind K. Davis and was in danger of falling behind Newell who was having a good offseason.
Granted, maybe some of that was due to Williams attitude and not his skills if he wasn't happy. But it was what it was.
It would be nice to have Thurston back though.
I see Kevin Williams is going to start for MSU.

This is surely a message to be gained. My first reaction is I bet Kevin Maurice and Mick Stoltenberg would be starting for the Spartans as well ahead of Kevin the bench warmer (subbed that for backup because he doesn't want to be called a back up).
He already graduated. 5th year seniorThey were just talking about Kevin Williams playing for Michigan State and transferring from Nebraska.
Now can someone explain what I missed here why is the guy able to play right away after transferring from another division one school let alone same comference?
Don't think so. It has been around for a few years. I think Russel Wilson started for Wisconsin after a similar transferThank you my friend. Is this a new rule?
Been a rule for half dozen years or so now... Maybe even more. That's what enabled Russell Wilson to play right away at Wisconsin.Thank you my friend. Is this a new rule?
I sometimes refer to it as the "Russell Wilson rule" because he's the most well-known player to use it. We've had a couple players transfer in under the rule too-Pat Smith, the kicker we had in 2013(in between Brett Maher and Drew Brown) was a graduate transfer.Been a rule for half dozen years or so now... Maybe even more. That's what enabled Russell Wilson to play right away at Wisconsin.
exactly. They lost even more guys than NU. In addition to graduations, they had I think a couple of transfers and at least one DT kicked off the team. KW picked a team where he knew he wasn't going to have to compete for a job.Or it shows that Michigan States depth is down at that position.
