Kevin Warren to the Bears?

Interesting. I thought he would get fired from the B1G for how he handled the Covid response. Now I think he has unfinished B1G business with expansion poaching PAC teams.

just when we had things going in the right direction

honestly, the job of CEO of the Bears is a tough one. you report to a 100-year old lady who owns the team because George Halas (Legend) thought her mom was hot like 80 years ago, and the team is basically the only asset the family has, so there's tons of leverage against it, I'm sure.

so long as he has nothing to say about the actual team & focuses only on business/dealing with the McCaskeys, I would not be opposed.

guy did just ink the largest media deal in college football history, after all, and the Bears are talking about making major moves geographically in the coming years

Gimme Alvarez over the woke dipshits that the Presidents in the B1G would insist on bringing in. I don’t think people understand how many B1G schools brass would love to see an Ivy League model when it comes to sports

Hope the first thing the new commissioners looks at is the refs. B1G has the worst officals in the game. I feel like the Iowa game was the first time we ever won a ron snodgrass ref’d game. And the only reason we didn’t see the regular Ronnie shenanigans is cause Waren wanted Mickey as coach.

Don’t think refs go into a game with a bias against certain teams, watch untold story: operation flagrant foul on Netflix. And Frost never did get on any of their good side for us

But from a gamblers perspective, it’s a leg up when you notice refs that hate teams. It’s dirty

If football didn’t make so much money the B1G would’ve done away with it years ago

I posted this podcast interview back in Sept and still think it’s worth a listen for any interested in how the B1G powers that be think about the conference & landscape of CFB

Alvarez is extremely complimentary of NU throughout

Pretty interesting and insightful

talks a lot about Nebraska, B1G media rights, expansion and the like

worth a listen (despite the losing record of the B1G)

Kinda pervy seeing that Virginia is Halas' daughter, not to mention that she hasn't run the team for more than 20 years. Her dopey sons do.

They probably won't expand unless they can get Notre Dame to join.

I think they're waiting on Notre Dame before doing anything else but if they get a definite no way ever from the Domers, I think they'll go ahead with Oregon and Washington. At least I think that was Warren's plan, maybe it all changes if he leaves.

I’m not sure everybody is liking adding UCLA and USC ……

As the rules stand right now - ND can’t ever get a bye in the CFP as they only go to conf champions. Will be interested to see if this prompts ND to join a conf or if the rules for byes are changed for ND

Everyone will when it’s time to cash them paychecks in two years..Winking
I’m doubting they’ll add anything to each team’s share on a new contract. Yeah they’re in a huge market but how many people care enough to subscribe to the B1G network. Then add in the added travel costs for each team that has to fly out there. I think it’s a greedy move that really isn’t beneficial to the rest of the conference.

I don't think subscribing to the B1G network was the biggest financial incentive in Warren's mind. I think Warren saw those adds as the start of working on a night time game package for the media bidders. That's why I think he was still interested in Oregon and Washington but his plans were on hold due to wanting to see what Notre Dame would do. It kind of like the NFL adding different night packages to cash in with various media deals.
