When Coach Riley hired one of his former OSU coaches (Chris Brasfield) last year to manage in-state high school recruiting, I actually cringed. Why not hire someone who knows his way around the state and program and can hit the ground running?
I never saw or heard a single thing about Brasfield's efforts to visit high schools, tour the state or generate energy for the program among Nebraska high school coaches. That doesn't mean he didn't, but I just wasn't familiar with it I guess.
Several months ago Riley replaced Brasfield with Kenny Wilhite and the difference in visibility and activity seems night and day. The guy seems to be everywhere making noise about the Huskers. Now I follow Wilhite on Twitter and have seen him at FNL, etc so I might have some selective attention here, but he sure seems like an energetic upgrade in our Nebraska in state relationship building.
