Hope that means Lamar has stepped up big time. Kalu is a pretty good press corner and at LJ's size he can't afford to whiff at the line of scrimmage.
Tackling is his best attribute, imo. But I still think LJ would make more sense at safety if they are trying to get those four on the field.Kalu has to be the least physical corner on the roster.

Could it be that Jackson has the talent to be out there, but going to this formation makes it less likely he can make mental errors. Last year I believe mental errors were what limited his playing time ; or times he played slow . Definitely saw him fail in coverage a few times while seeming confused.Agree with this. We are probably basing this too much on last year as far as how they use the safeties. Kalu doesn't seem to be that downhill slobber knocker from the safety spot. Wasn't Jackson supposed to be the short side DB when recruited?

Happens, just wondering ?
Thanks; makes perfect sense.I don't think last year factors into anything these secondary coach's and Diaco's decisions. They are simply trying to find the right combination of guys.
I think Reed and maybe Domann would fit that category. The pair of Kalu and Williams probably not. And I've always like Williams from the time I saw his HS file. Reminded me a lot of Mike Brown, but I don't think A Williams has the same physical skills. Still smooth and natural at the safety spot, and a sure tackler. Just not a big thumper.Need at least one thumper at S. Not sure I see one.
