Kalen to Bama. Done deal

Absolutely stunned that Saban didn’t throw a tantrum and insist a running backs coach with a substance abuse problem and involved in an extramarital affair with a coed wasn’t handed the job
I see what you did there…..😉

The last time an Alabama school hired a Pacific Northwest guy, Auburn ended up with Bryan Harsin. Hopefully, this works out better for Bama. Harsin was the worst culture fit hire I've seen since Bill Callahan.

thats a stupid, irrelevant comparison. Bryan Harsin coached a G5 juggernaut and had 0 wins against ranked P5 teams in his last two seasons there. DeBoer took over a P5 dumpster fire and is 9-1 against ranked P5 teams the last two seasons, and that 1 loss was in the national championship.

you all put way too much stock into this whole "muh culture" narrative. Nick Saban grew up in West Viriginia and went to school in Ohio, Ryan Day is from New Hampshire, Lane Kiffin is from Nebraska. "culture fit" is a cope that fans use when they know they can't get the best of the best.

Nice to meet you too. I disagree Harsin was a Boise native and spent most of his time coaching in the Pacific Northwest. Several players spoke out against him at Auburn. He didn't even make it two years there. DeBoer has more cred, but it takes some work to develop connections with local high school coaches, players, and media in the south. Why do you think so many big SEC schools hire guys from the South?

Anybody that's moved from the North to the South can tell you. You don't get the same trust and grace as Southern boys. What's the difference between a Yankee and a damn Yankee? A Yankee comes to visit. A damn Yankee moves down there.

DAMN. Alabama moved fast! NU usually screws around for months with names like Houston Nutt just to end up with Mike Riley and shit.

This last search was a bit better, though. Seemed Trev always wanted Rhule and got his guy.
Ahhh why compare Pederson and Eichorst to a Byrne Bama hire after Legendary Coach retires..

Rhule I think was his choice from the start but it probably took some convincing time to get Rhule here. But if Rhule had said yes after the first or second offer I think we would have had our head coach quickly too.

Jimmy Sexton is Saban’s agent

He is also Lanning’s, Sarks and Norvell’s agent all of whom got hefty raises.

Sexton also happens to be DeBoer’s agent

Great coach.
Yep. Alabama just hired one of the best coaches out there. It should be interesting if his staff can recruit at the same level. And this isn't a guy who has connections to the south that I am aware of, but maybe he'll find himself a few excellent former player types who can help make that connection to their recent glory years.
