Nebraska is well represented by commits and targets inside new Top247

247Sports updated its Top247 this week and there’s a notable Nebraska change with
Daniel Kaelin landing four-star honors and moving into the rankings, but there’s also several commitments who have been inside the rankings for a while and a couple important targets the Huskers would love to land.
Who joined Kaelin on the list? Let’s take a look:
Carter Nelson — Checking in at No. 40 is Nebraska’s most recent commitment, the highest rated player in the state and the class, and one of the biggest curiosities with coming from 8-man football in Ainsworth to an entirely different game in Lincoln.
Nelson chose Nebraska over Georgia, Notre Dame and Penn State, which is a strong vote of confidence from the tight end in
Matt Rhule and what he’s hoping to build with the Huskers.
Grant Brix — Nebraska is in a battle for this Top247 offensive lineman out of Logan, Iowa.
Surprisingly neither Iowa or Iowa State are involved, but the Huskers are hoping to come out on top for Brix against Alabama, Kansas State and Oklahoma.
Nebraska just hosted Brix this past weekend for an official visit and the lineman had a good time around a number of Nebraska’s commits, many of whom are going to work to try to get him as part of the class.
Brix is No. 132.
Roger Gradney — Nebraska’s first commitment has continued to hold a spot in the Top247 from the moment he jumped on board, as the 247Sports evaluation team is enamored with his athleticism and when Rhule is involved, they take an extra long look at the recruit even when it’s a name from off the board.
With Gradney 247Sports particularly liked how versatile he is and how he could grow into a player on either side of the ball with his athletic aptitude and the 6-foot-1, 190-pound frame
Daniel Kaelin — Nebraska’s quarterback commit is the newcomer on the list and earned his spot here after a great showing at the Elite 11.
Kaelin showcased an accurate arm while winning the accuracy contest, but throughout the event he won over doubters with his intangibles and personality, which only served to enhance an arm that came across better than some suspected going in. The quarterback checks in at No. 233.
Willis McGahee IV — The son of the NFL running back of the same name will look to make his impact on the defensive side of the ball, where his athleticism and drive puts him in position to finish off ball carriers, while having the athleticism to run with receivers, tight ends and anyone coming out of the backfield.
McGahee wants to be a Jack linebacker in Nebraska’s system, which is a little more unique of a position as it often plays forward in pass rush, but is also used at times to disguise looks and coverages and requires a heady player with good athleticism. At No. 238 McGahee fits the bill.
