Haven’t watched it in a while, but it’s certainly interesting to see how the game has changed. Number one, we got a lot of hits on Costa. I’m not sure if they were what would be considered a late hit now, but certainly you cannot go after the quarterback anymore, like you could back then. Costa was not a great talent actually as well.

Our linebacker play was superior. Ellis and Coleman were outstanding and were shooting the gap continuously. Line play was good and past rush was strong.

Finally, as we all know, Lawrence Phillips was just on another level.

I actually forgot that Miami actually made some bad plays that kept us in the game. I had completely forgotten about that bad snap on the punt. They also had a couple of bad personal fouls. Overall, however, much fewer penalties than there are today and much fewer play stoppages.
 
I've told this before, but a guy i used to know through work was from Philly where Frank Costa was from and knew him and his family well. He said Frank told him he had never been hit like that in a game before and was so sore he didn't get out of bed for the next couple of days.
