CBC (#1 in 6A) was destroying Christian Brothers (Memphis) 45-10 at the end of the 3Q when I left. Supposedly a top-ten team in Tennessee, CBC just mauled them with big plays. Some comments:

- Babb did not score, but had some electric short and medium catches with some great footwork to get good yards after the catch. One was especially nice as he caught a down-and-out, then tip-toed the out of bounds line for another 15 yards while dodging tacklers.

- Babb started at CB and had some good tackles. Just a great athlete.

- Brett Gabbert (soph) looked very good at QB. Still a bit thin, his throws were consistently on the money. Two more years, and he should be a D-1 QB somewhere. Very poised and scrambled when needed. Getting better coaching than his two brothers got at Parkway West.

- Their other junior WR (Cameron Brown) stole the show with a long catch and run for a TD and later a bobble-and-catch of a long pass for a TD. He looked very good. Has offers from Mizzou, Illinois and some others. Ranked #62 WR by Rivals.

- Their offensive line is mostly sophomores and big. Likely a few D-1 players. A family friend of ours is the starting RT as a 6'4" 315-lb soph. Name is Jeremiah Marlin (he has camped at NU and I am bringing him to Illinois game...wears a lot of Husker gear). He will be playing against his youth football teammate in two weeks... a kid by the name of Trevor Trout.

- Next two games are at East St Louis and then Chaminade (ranked #1 in 5A). CBC plays a loaded schedule.

- I will attend the Chaminade-CBC game on September 9 and will provide some commentary.
