...was a couple years late. I predicted NU would go 4-8 in Riley's first year. I was wrong. They went 5-7. Triggered a bunch of people on RSS. Mostly because I could see Riley wasn't a good fit about five or so games into his first year. It's not rocket science. Sometimes you just need to take off your homer glasses and look. Losing to the likes of Purdue was just inexcusable.
Mike Riley had his groupies just like Bo Pelini did over on RSS. They were led by Rkay, who also had his groupies.
Fast forward to now. Look at the sad, sad, state of Nebraska football. The program is bigger than any one man. And although Riley seems to be a very good man and a decent human being, which is rare these days, he is a 500 coach who was about to be fired at Oregon St. when Eichorst came calling. He should have NEVER been hired at NU. This was evident halfway through his first year.
So, I'm going to say the same thing about the next head coach that I said about Pelini and Riley. I will support them until I see a reason not to. Whether that takes a full year or a few games doesn't matter. The results speak for themselves.
P.S. It will take Frost or any new coach more than a year to right this ship, though. It's at the bottom of the sea right now.
