Just how political is B1G football?

No matter what, he can run ads on this in those same states. The dems made a huge tactical error. They should have waited until late October to run that ad.
Considering that anybody with half a brain knows that one guy has clamored for everybody to stay home until at least Thanksgiving and the other guys says open up, I think most people know who really has shut down football. I think his ad was a bad miscalculation.

Do any of the ads really matter. Trumps base is gonna vote for him no matter what and Bidens folks will vote for him. I don't see Trump gaining voters from 16 but nothing would surprise me at this point. Our country is in a bad place either way

Funny thing. Everything the Dems try to do backfires. They seem to not have any cognitive reasoning skills. I think the world as a whole has become more intelligent and all this playing people as fools BS is backfiring on them. The only simple minds left are their own.

Well you have to swing Independents and Libertarians because both of this camps don't have a strong player in the game.

This is true, especially considering he said he would be willing to shut the country down if he was president. However, the ad may be coming from the position that had Trump done a better job when this all first started, we wouldn’t have to be shutting down football. At least that’s the only sense that I can make of it. The new attack, seemingly, is that Trump is the reason for all of the violence and that he wants the violence. It is utterly ridiculous. There are things to after trump on, but they seem to be making really bad decisions on their messaging.

Outside of Covid killing the world, was our country really in a bad place? I'm only 36, but in my life time there are peaks and valleys, but no matter who the President is, I can't really think of a way they really hindered my life and that the US was ever in a really bad place. Covid has spiraled that a bit, but once it goes away it'll trickle back to normal.

I'm not sure of how much you have traveled, but if you go outside of the US, you will realize how good we actually have it. The US is a great place and outside of how bad the media wants to tell you the US is, it is a hell of a place to live. Yes we have some things to clean up and we can differ on our opinion on how to make things better, but it isn't this shithole that folks like to make it out to be.

Trump is going to gain a lot of voters, including people like me who didn't believe that he would do any of the things he promised he would do before he was elected. Suffice it to say that I am now a big Trump supporter and he has proven me wrong in a big way.

During the RNC, there were tons of Dems calling into CSPAN's call in show saying they were going to vote for Trump.

Only way I think Biden wins is if Dems get in mail in voting that they can manipulate and that's why they are pushing so hard for it.

Quit blaming everything around you and be responsible to yourself and your loved ones.

I didn't like Obama but I'll be damned if I'm going to blame him for anything that's in my life. If you're in the position where you need help from the government, you're losing. This country affords you the opportunity to get anything you want, with hard work and determination. Go get it, or start pointing the thumb and not your finger

Yes - but that’s where far too many people start out in life. Without good support (or any support), even the best-intentioned young person is going to get mired down in the environment around them. There needs to leadership, foremost in the home, and in the schools and communities. It is up to each community to have people willing to step up and be leaders for change in that community. The federal government can’t save you.

We all get a different playing card to start out. Some get the Ace of Spades and some get the Two of clubs. But, at least you get a hand and some may have to work a little harder, but it's there for you. And, if you build from that Two of Clubs your children get a better hand to start with.

You can't appreciate wealth without there being poor. You can't appreciate happiness if you don't know sorrow.

Anything that's worth it comes from hard work. That's life.

Talking about starting with a 2 of clubs...

I read a book called "The millionaire next door" It was a study done in the US that identified exactly who were millionaires and who weren't.

Spoiler: It was people who start their own businesses and saved and saved and didn't buy new cars and stuff that depreciated. They bought used. And their homes were normal middle class type housing...which they paid off asap.

They also tended to have parents of little means.

The silver spooners ended up being doctors and lawyers with fancy everything's, making 6 figures, and still not wealthy. They spent those 6 figures on a mansion and new cars every 5 years or so.

The study also identified the demographics and middle easterners tended to be the richest and the Scottish tended to be the most frugal of any ethnicity studied.

Was a real interesting book.

Yeah, I can tell that their 8-10 point lead is just driving the Dems nuts.

Regardless of what party/candidate you support, a big part of campaign ads is throwing crap up against the wall to see what sticks and resonates with targeted subgroups of voters. The more crap you can throw against the wall, the sooner you find out what works. That's politics. A bunch of people who sling around crap as their professional skill. Laughing

There are chimps in zoos who are envious of the crap-slinging skills shown by politicians.

My life as a white male has never really been impacted too much by whomever is running the country. Not a whole lot changes either way. It just seems that discourse has changed in a way that is super negative trend. Bigotry and racism have always been part of our country but they certainly have been emboldened in the last few years. Dont even start with the Qanon crazies who think Trump (same guy who had sex with a 13 year old) is here to save the children while Clinton was running a pedo ring form a pizza place. Mental health is at an all-time low. I try to travel internationally once a year and the one thing that definitely has changed is our image. We as a country are seen as a laughingstock by almost all I had contact with. My goal actually is to be able to retire and travel 3-4 months a year just to be immersed in other cultures.

Some have to work a lot harder. I get the impression that you might underestimate the difficulty that a good percentage of the population has with getting ahead in life. It’s not as simple as working hard, although that is a very important part of the equation. There are all sorts of challenges and difficulties - financial, mental, emotional, etc. It is a shit show out there, and without the right kind of support and leadership for young people, they will become part of that show.

We have used mail in voting for over a century but now it will be manipulated....sure....thats just not a thing thats going to happen. Election day should absolutely be a national holiday to try to get as many as possible to have the opportunity to vote.

vote by mail has been a standard in CO for 10 years. there is no proof it's improved voter turnout or benefited either side.

frankly, I'm not surprised more than half the country can't be bothered to vote considering the candidates constantly foisted upon the people. taxation without representation 2.0.

there should 100% be a 'None of the Above' option on the ballot. it would win in a landslide in nearly every race.

Tell you what thats a great idea. I am also certainly an ageist. Anyone over 65 by the end of their 2nd term should not be eligible.

POST OF THE YEAR! For all of our problems, working class people aren't trying to get in to socialist countries around the world. They're doing their damnedest to try to get a green card and legally immigrate here. We are still the land of opportunity for the time being. We enjoy one of if not the highest standard of living of any country in the world. I've traveled abroad enough to know that Americans don't appreciate how good they have it. Our working class can buy boats and other toys and get ample free weekends and vacation time to enjoy them. The problem is that you need to work to enjoy that. Apparently that's a foreign concept to a growing segment of our citizens.

You're giving to much credit for a certain percentage of the people that tend to lean a specific way politically......

wow. Doesn't that tin foil hat get hot in the summer time. The Trump accusation is pretty wild dude. My goal at retirement is to be immersed in THIS country and all of the beautiful places to go and see. In my travels abroad I've discovered that there's no greater place to be than right here in this country. That 's probably the greatest difference between reds and blues. Reds LOVE this country and want nothing more than that. Blues hate this country and can't wait to either leave or make it more like something else.

The problem isn't vote by mail the way it traditionally HAD been done. The problem is the proven ballot harvesting that took place in California the last election cycle. When a swing state like New Jersey which could determine a presidential election MAILS ballots to every person on the voting roles whether they still live at that address or not, there's a HUGE potential for ballot harvesting or other fraud. THAT decision by their governor was clearly a politically motivated action. What's ironic is that then they accuse Trump of trying to stifle the vote by removing mail boxes. Funny considering that they've been downsizing the number of stuff boxes in my area for over a decade. Every single person can just stick their ballot in their outgoing mail in their own mail box if they want to vote. It's stupid.

Maybe I do underestimate it. However, I'm glad it's difficult. I'm glad there's challenges. I grew up poor and now have a nice house, nice job, and a nice family that I've built. I can speak from experience.

Yes, there are people with single parents and low income with way more challenges than even I faced. But the government isn't going to help that. The only way to rise above that is to do it yourself.

It was from the Epstein stuff that was sealed. Look I think any sexual misconduct charges should disqualify from running for any public office which eliminates these two. Totally fine to want someone who is also good person to be the face of a nation. Growing up in Nebraska was great and I will retire here too but it also showed me that I needed diversity in my life that you really cant get here. Its really changed the way I view things. I love being immersed in other cultures. I was walking in Cairo a few years back during Friday prayers and as the Imams were reading the Quran verses that were being piped throughout the area in Arabic the hairs on my arms stood up. No one was speaking a word of English. It was just so cool to be surrounded by something different. Dont get me wrong though. Getting back to that resort was also pretty nice.

I guess it is the eye of the beholder. My family travels quite a bit overseas and I guess I don't see that we are seen as a laughing stock. They sometimes mention what a character Trump is, but otherwise we have a pretty good time and a lot of them gush over the fact that I am able to drive a "big powerful truck". I agree bigotry and racism have been a part of our country, but I'm not sure it is bad as stated. This isn't 1960 Jim Crow times. As much attention as police shootings have gotten of black folks, if you really dive into it I think the numbers it is a pretty small list (under 30) and I think if you dive down further you would see that like under 10 probably have no justification. Watching the media you would think 30 a day were getting gunned down by cops. But whatever, it's fine to have differing opinions and I appreciate the response. Cheers.

So IF it was in Epstein "stuff" that was sealed how do you "know" about it. Just stop. I don't know what internet rumor blog you got that from, but that's irresponsible repeating things like that.

You're lucky you weren't kidnapped, gang raped and beheaded in Cairo.
