And that’s all am saying. I agree some official contracts take a while to get all the information and clauses etc. especially at a school where you need some State confirmation to ok the contract. He probably hasn’t signed it yet. But he has agreed in principle somehow and I think there would be witnesses. I don’t believe he is going to renig and go to the NFL. If he did with tje agreement in place and with witnesses I would think that the buyouts would be binding. Now if the AD didn’t cover all bases he would be a fool.
Yes. You can sign a memorandum of understanding that lays out the essentials of the deal. That would allow Belichick to do the day to day stuff, the. when the contract is completed, that is signed.

Those buyouts seem to really be more for the school to "get something" as opposed to actually stopping someone from trying to hire their coach.

there have been multiple cases of head coaches not signing their contracts for months. Legally I'm not sure how that would play out if there was some blow up. Maybe he's waiting to see how things shake out with all of the NFL hiring. That would be a sh##ty thing to do, but I wouldn't be all that surprised if he bailed for the NFL at the last minute. Hopefully his son has signed his contract.

Does anybody really think that the Patriots knew Tom Brady was going to turn in to what he did after being drafted late? There were lots of questions about Josh Allen and he's carrying that team. NINE guys were drafted ahead of Mahommes. Did anybody on this board think he was going to mean so much to their franchise? In the NFL and major college football the QB often is the difference between a .500 team and a league champ. You have to hit on QBs.
How mobile were Brady and both Mannings? Plenty of ways to cook up a winning team. D couldn’t stop anyone, Goff shit the bed and the Lions got cutesy when they didn’t need to. They couldve ran all over that Washington defense all night but Campbell and company love them some shenanigans. Play and coach against the team across the line of scrimmage on that day, not just what you want to do. Will he learn from it? Doubtful.
