Jalil Martin in the portal

I am thinking that if some guys just want to retire from football, they wouldn’t enter the portal. We
Could still be fine.
We just better pray Sims stays healthy this next season

He got a lot of praise for his raw skills, but he was still young and the DB room is deep. Wish him well.
The DB room is deep… not in a good way. Half a dozen guys that have been here at least 2 years that have done little to nothing. Not sure how many of those guys are still gonna have to retire from football, but needs to be at least 4 by Fall. Also, two kickers on scholly is just stupid… unless the senior was Alex Henery good

He is a bit of a surprise. But not knowing what he has shown in practice or what the coaches actually think. He wasn't one of the DB’s i suspected but was close to a possibility.

They're not going to have any trouble getting down to the 85 limit, lot's of time before the Fall. In fact my bet is that they overshoot and fall under 85 unless they get some more incoming from the portal (which I think is likely too).

I’m guessing we pick up 2 from the Portal.

Allan entering the portal, Palmer and Mathis going in the sixth round, what kind of advice are these kids getting? I really like Rhule but this stuff seems to be a carry over from the Frost era. Mathis and Palmer could have easily benefitted from one year under Rhule, seems as though they should have easily been second rounders. Then Allen transferring after all the good things that were reported. Seems as though we are still getting a lot of coach speak still and local reporters don’t care to mention anything negative about the staff.

Mathis and Palmer were draftable and weren’t waiting around to see how the new staff shook out. Allen was dinged up a bit this spring and got on the wrong side of the depth chart. Three guys are going to get carries and he seems to be #4.

It is a little bit of a worrying sign and I get the impression Rhule isn't much of a closer. We should have been able to keep some of these guys.

Allen got caught on video digging it in practice. Methinks he was less than bought in. Palmer had smoke blown up his butt about being a 2nd rounder. One injury and he might never have got a sniff of the NFL. He probably did the right thing for him.

I did not think it was good thing when all those players transferred out under Frost and I don’t like it that CT and Allen have entered the transfer portal. Nebraska quarterbacks always get hurt and I am not thrilled with who is behind Sims. Allen was by far the most elusive runner on the team last year before he got hurt. Grant’s first step is not explosive. Rhule needs to change the reputation of the Huskers being a team where good players leave for greener pastures.

Why would they stick around and play a last year for a coach known for having rough first years get your money and not have to go to school or be in a dump of a state anymore

It stings to lose good players, but I think it's unrealistic to fault a new coaching staff for not being able to keep Palmer, Mathis, Thompson from leaving. They came here to play for a different coaching staff and/or get NIL deals and put some more tape on film for a year before declaring for the draft. If you had asked most Husker fans before the beginning of the 2022 year, I bet most would not have expected Palmer, Mathis, or Thompson to be here in 2023 (or Frost for that matter).

He never got out of the gray jersey this spring, wasn't a position home for him
