It's both. Frost is responsible for the QB. It's YEAR 4. He should have a competent replacement when his starter is not effective. (see Illinois)

It's the head coach, OP. Adrian has gotten worse since his first game against Colorado. It's been downhill ever since in all phases of the game besides the defensive improvements (not great, but better).

There's been zero sound, fundamental game played on offense the entire time Frost has been at Nebraska.

But yet, with all of the above the dolt we have running this program decided we are good at QB and didn’t even try to land a transfer. In addition, he could have very easily fired Greg Austin last year. But his buddies are more important than the Nebraska football program.

I agree but now we have 2 quarterbacks that aren't any better and all of our hopes will be on an incoming freshman next year ? The O line has to get better somehow so we can at least run a little.

Martinez should have been playing for Fresno State the last couple years.

There are at least a dozen QBs in the transfer portal every year that would be major upgrades. But Frost has chosen not to pursue them, and he will have to live with the consequences.

Partially right, but QBs didn’t cause ill timed penalties, bad snaps, poor special teams decisions and execution, and trying to pass on the last play of the first half when nothing good could come of it.

Those were all either coaching decisions or things that should be cleaned up by coaches in year 4.

Our problems go well beyond the QB. TEs/receivers get very little separation (without bumps and offensive pi), the o-line is terrible, no running game, special teams are horrendous…I could go on.

Not a terrible take at face value, but the HEAD coach is responsible for recruiting, player progression, roster management, and all coaching positions on his squad. It's one reason why Saban returned to college. It's the same reason Urban is having trouble adjusting to the NFL. You control your football program as head coach. Everything is on your plate. Every successful dish, and every disgusting disappointment .


It's not about leaving the Big 12. It's not about bringing your buddies from UCF. It's not about your senior QB still not having a clue how to take care of the ball. All of those things can have an effect on the team, but that's just giving excuses to the head man in charge. Nebraska has sucked for years because they haven't hired a coach worth the lint in the bottom of their pockets. Stop looking for mulligans, and find the right guy. Typically I would agree, but Martinez is not capable of playing at a good pace. His reaction and decision making time is atrocious, and the flow of the game is f'd for everyone involved. How many wide open receivers did he miss? I'm not talking about 30 yard misses. I am taking about the 10 yard dumps that my 13 year old son could hit with his eyes closed.

If I was Frost, I would tell Martinez "I am sorry to have to say this, but it's over. Thanks for everything you have done, but I have to go a different way. Try a new approach. I have given you plenty of time and ample opportunities to prove you can take that next step. It is evident that you can't. What I want to achieve here is not going to happen with you as our QB. You can leave now, or support your team for the rest of the season. It's your choice, and I wish nothing but the best for you in you future endeavors."

It's not the coaches scheme that's the problem but it is the coaches responsibility to either motivate the QB or to replace him. If you stubbornly stick with the same QB it becomes your issue.

It's a combination of both. Frost has sucked as a play caller. As well as his inability to move on from 2am.

We would have a lot more wins despite the undisciplined football if we had a competent QB. Martinez doesn’t trust himself to drop back and deliver a strike. He only throws if the receiver is wide open, and then we have to hope it’s accurate.

But to say it’s not the coaches is stupid. His horrible play is on them, and the undisciplined football in all facets is obviously on them.
