I am a proud brother of Sigma Phi Epsilon, Nebraska Alpha. During my yeas in school we never referred to our house as a Frat or Frat house. I also was friends with many other men that were members of other Fraternities and I don't recall them Frats either. I am aware of the stupid and hateful remarks that happened at OU and the unacceptable behavior of Sigma Chi at Nebraska and the unfortunate incident at Farmhouse. Those incidents are totally unacceptable for any Fraternity or any group of students on any campus. It seems to me that university authorities across the country are developing an anti Greek attitude and I site the reaction of the president of Virginia Tech who suspended all Fraternities on campus over the Rolling Stone article which we all know turned out to be a big lie. I also talked to Harvey Perlman this fall and bragged up the fact that the Sig Ep house had 8 regent scholars in its pledge class and had a 3.2 over all house average. He quickly pointed out the Sigma Chi and Farmhouse incidents.
Fraternities may not be for everyone and i get that, but I believe they make a very positive contribution to campus life.
