I never thought I would see them recruiting at top 10 or top 15 levels. It seemed like they were ones who had unique systems that could also spot some diamonds in the rough. I always felt this uniqueness was the key to their success. However, now with Texas being down, continued success on the field, and two stellar coaches, one wonders if they are cementing themselves as top ten type programs for the foreseeable future.

Are they really joining the elite or are they the SMU of the 80's.

Elite. Talent rich state, nice weather, nice facilities, great coaches.

With that being said, 5-10 years from now, why not us?

I think you need two things...coaching and resources. We have the second. Although it hasn't been pretty only time will tell if we have the first.

My opinion....NO. Texas will crawl out of there rut at some point and them Texas stars will start lining up for the Longhorns again. It kills me to say that but we all know this to be true. Texas AM maybe the only Texas team to hold off or compete with the Longhorns when they get there shit together for the top Texas recruits.

That's a fine point, but I would have asked: 5-10 years from now, will they still be nationally relevant?

I think both are crucially dependent on their coaches. Without them, I'm tempted to say they'll return to being middling programs (maybe that's a bit harsh for TCU, but Baylor was certainly that and worse prior to Briles).

Yup!

As terrible as we've been, we're probably going to sign the best class in the Big 12 this year.
