Isaac Gifford N

Man these last few days have been super exciting for the huskers... it’s nice to see all this good news trickling in... and I guess at this point it hasn’t even been trickling it’s been pouring... it’s nice to see the local kids stay home, I hope he pans out to be a good one, you have to like his speed and strength already...

puts this class at 20 now. all the summer hand wringing sure seems for naught.

room for 6 more scholarships since Isaac is paying his way until Fall.. who's next?!

Awesome.

I really like seeing in-state talent stay in-state. Definitely feel Nebraska is unique in that we can probably keep 95% of the top talent in-state every year, even though a lot of that has a lot to do with not producing a ton of P5 talent compared to more populous states year over year.

Love the pickup. Intrigued where they move him on defense once he puts on muscle. ILB?

Blueshirts can practice and play their freshman year, gray shirts cannot participate in any team events until after the fall semester.

Blueshirts also cannot be officially recruited (no official visit, in-home visit, or Letter of Intent).
Ah thanks for the info.

Doesn't the letter of intent tie you to the school. Not sure how that part of it works

Blue shirts do not sign a Letter of Intent. They are essentially walk-ons who earn a scholarship after the first-semester. Isaac will enroll this spring and pay for the first semester, then go on scholarship in the fall. He'll be able to practice and work out with the team.

Grayshirts can sign a letter of intent, but can't participate in any team functions until after the first semester.

Whats the point of the blue shirt? What's the difference of giving him a scholarship now compared to after the first semester? Im confuzzled

we got to just trust Frost and his staff on this one. They obviously have a plan to make this recruiting class work. But who knows exactly what, why and how they plan on doing this...

Yep, they are closing. I can't believe how they are sewing up this class, in the last two weeks.

There is ALWAYs attrition after spring ball. Frost is planning for that attrition. Bama over signs to plan for their attrition. We can't oversign but we can get a kid who really wants to come to NU to trust Frost and wait for a scholarship to open up for the fall. He's taking a gamble to a degree for the benefit of NU. We should all thank him.

The blue shirt is just another way to over sign, as he is counted against next years class, not this years. Bama has done this a lot over the years. They even got a 4-star to do it a couple years ago.

You can only sign 25 players per class for a max of 85 total. You "blue shirt" when you want the guy but you already have too many in his position or you are at your max (25 or 85) but expect attrition. It just means he walks on, pays his own tuition in the spring then gets a scholarship and counts toward the 25 total in 2021 instead. He can't have been recruited previously by NEB.
