Sipple and Benning interviewing Ken Pomeroy, creator of KenPom, the revolutionary system that forced Vegas linesmakers cast aside their pride and use it to help set more accurate opening lines.

Sipple question: So what do you, I mean what are the, who do you m-, what do you follow the closest? I mean what's the most, the best indicators to you?

Pomeroy: (silence) Uh... as far as like...

Sipple: Picking a winner.

Pomeroy: I follow my own system. (laughs) That's why I created it. That's the whole purpose of my system is to make predictions.....

I think most of us cannot fathom how little Sipple really knows about sports and why this guy is used so often on local sports radio is beyond me. Sipple must be working as a volunteer.

Sounds like Sip

But I bet if someone from another state started insulting Sip, there would be this urge to defend him. Same way you would defend a "special" cousin.

I owned a body shop for a number of years, and we didn't have a frame machine. When something came in that our pulling equipment couldn't handle, we subbed it out to a guy down the street. If you had just listened to that guy talk, you'd think he was a complete and total moron. Had zero people skillz, wasn't articulate, had few to no real friends, just a total introvert who came across as dumb as anyone could ever come across, even looked a little goofy. However, in reality, he was one of the most intelligent people I ever had the pleasure of getting to know. The stuff that guy could do, and still does to this day, he is literally a once in a lifetime kind of genius. My point is, Sipple might be one of those people you have to look at what's on the inside, because the outside looks and sounds kinda dumb. I don't know anything about Sipple, I only hear him talk on the radio from time to time, and it's a hard listen, but he's been making a living at this for a while now so he must have something going on upstairs. But I agree with you, he doesn't come off as ultra smart when you listen to him.

Give the guy a break. For seven years he had to spew simple questions to a very simple mind so that he could stay in good graces.

Now he has to actually think of something intelligent to say or ask, and its got to be a complete shock to his system.

What's crazy is having to write about football every single day of the year. But, if they didn't then the ljs probably wouldn't exist in print form today. He is really, really good at towing the company line...he has more than done his part in trying to keep Nebraska football relevant in this state (despite the lackluster overall success of the program in past 15 years)

I have a guy who does jobs around my house who is the same way. He was some kind of genius in some tech field, but decided he didn't like people, so is a handiman. The guy is awkward and somewhat rude when we are talking about the job I want, but man, he does a great job.

There is a man currently on trial in Franklin County, KS for murdering 4 people over $50 worth of meth. 3 of his victims were adults killed in a bloody gun battle. The 4th victim was a 6 month old baby girl also in the house. He could've left that baby in its crib and it never would've known the difference. After already shooting 3 people, he could've shot the child as well. Instead, this sadistic fvck decided to put that baby, alive, in a suitcase, drive 10 miles down the road, and throw it out into the ditch. Its likely the baby froze to death inside of the suitcase. Authorities concluded it died along the side of the road....

I think that guy is worse than Steve Sipple.

WTH ?

Whether or not any one of us would be good at it has absolutely zero importance or relevance.

I kinda agree with Beav on this one. These guys have several hours worth of radio to fill every single day, not just during football season. It gets pretty tough I'm sure and it seems like this board rakes a lot of local talk show guys over the coals. I don't think people realize it isn't an easy job. Having said all that, Sipple is a bad listen a lot of the time, but Benning makes the show worth listening to overall.

We should put some of you guys on live radio, I bet you'd kick out some real gems.

The point is he should know by now who Ken Pomeroy is. They just finished a month of "Bubble" conversation talking RPI and "KenPom" ratings.

With out his Sugar Daddy, the Big Penguini, he has nothing of interest to write about. He was so invested in Penguini he lost his ability to be readable and comprehensible. His next gig will be the Youngstown Gazette.

His point was to say that the people being critical couldn't do any better. Even if that is true, it doesn't matter, at all. If the guy isn't good at it, he isn't good at it, period. It isn't a requirement that a person could do something better than another to have an opinion on what it is they do, or how they do it. If that were the case, this site would be completely shut down, along with every other message board in the universe. And there are plenty of radio people, including local, who do a good job. Sipple might just be a fine journalist, but he does not belong on a radio for extended periods of time. People who thought it would be a good idea, in my opinion, were wrong. I am not saying I could do better, but I also don't think that I should stick a mic in front of my face and talk for several hours.

True! Take Banker for example. You listen to him talk and you think he must have eaten a ton of lead paint when he was little, but he is really smart when it come to defense! Oh wait...............bad example.

its called reading his column. There may be a reason he decided to be a columnist not unlike Shatel

There is no way they have not figured out alot of people turn it off when he is on. So painful to try and follow his "thoughts"

Our columnists suck. Sip is dumb and difficult to read, and shatel flops more than a fish, has no balls, and is a brown nose.
There are two kinds of people who all seem to have never actually played sports. Sports columnists and refs.

Bishop and Peterson are horrible. I would grade Sharp and Benning as A's. Bahe and Vrzal (when he subs) as B's. Sipple a C. Bishop and Peterson F's.

Personally, I listen on through my phone via podcast. If Sipp is on the show, I only listen to interview segments with experts I care about. So Ken Pomeroy caught my eye. But Sipp and Benning both kinda embarrassed themselves. Later on, Benning asked Ken something to the extent of if he had the intellect to fill out a March Madness bracket. Pomeroy said, yes. I can fill out a bracket. Amazing.

Darn it, you beat me to it. I had Ivan the Terrible, Idi Amin, and Mengele all being suitable answers. Yup, Josef Mengele would definitely be one name on the tip of the tongue.

But the real question is.... is Pomeroy one one of Bennings "guys"?
