Is Petrino still doing sleezy recruiting

I'm thinking Dez is leaning Louisville now. That would really suck. I thought he was a lock.

yep

he committed to Louisville initially for a reason ... UL got his last visit at the deadline and reaffirmed why he committed .. sucks
Petrino is a sleaze but evidently he can recruit even with his baggage

Definitely looks like a guy who tells the truth.

Petrino is one of the better coaches in all of CFB. I remember Saban saying "I am not going to be the next coach at Alabama" and when he flipped everyone said the same about him. Sleazebag, liar, can't trust him, etc, now he pulls in top ranked classes....Turns out when you're one of the better coaches kids don't care about your baggage. Just win baby, which is all Petrino does.

You're exactly right except that he also does cover-ups, sleazy recruiting and unquestionably unethical things.

Now are you talking about Petrino, or most of the other coaches down south? If a kid is going to rule out all dishonest sleazebags for future college coaches, the pickins are gonna get a lot slimmer.

If Petrino's overall sleaze factor isn't enough to deter a player then consider the likelihood that he remains the head coach at Louisville for the next 4-5 years and is able to deliver all the promises he's making to you now. The longest he's been at one school is four years and he's already two years into his current stint. In addition, he's already left Louisville twice for a better job. I'm not saying these things aren't factors to consider at Nebraska, where Riley is definitely under pressure to win, but if things go as planned then MR is going to be the coach here for awhile. If things go according to plan for Petrino then who knows???

Not sure this is a strong argument.

The board "house money" would probably lay down that Petrino will be at Louisville longer than Mike Riley is here. Half the board wanted him gone several games ago, and probably still thinks he might not survive this upcoming season.

Bottom line is that this wasn't about coaches - it was about CASH. It appears to me that we were the leverage that got more money out of UL for his services.

Petrino has been humbled to the highest level. Never underestimate what a world class humbling can do to a person. I'd bet Petrino coaches at Louisville for as long as Riley coaches here.

He has a long history of being a slime-bag to his bosses, players, and wife. Anyone who would trust him for anything at this point will get no sympathy when they get screwed over.

keep in mind the vast majority of our roster committed to Bo Pelini --- Carl may have even recruited a few

I'm sure they will lay awake at night worrying about that.

My guess is Petrino isn't the same guy he was 2 or 3 years ago. I know it's hard to let go of how we feel about those we perceive as slime balls, but like I said, when you've had the blocks knocked out from under you, it can change a person. It isn't out of the realm of possibilities it happened to Petrino.

He is a great coach and a tremendous dirtbag. Many great coaches are tremendous dirtbags. It sucks that he took a kid that we wanted. The complaining about his character is just sour grapes. If Petrino was hired to replace Bo last year, I, as well as many others, wouldve been ecstatic. I will say it again, he is a great football coach, and that speaks louder than his road rashed face on some memes.

If he's a slimeball and I don't know about it, fine. If he's a known sack of dog crap (read: Petrino) I'll pass.

Fitz wasn't a make or break for the class. He was a great talent no doubt, but we've been QB limited in the passing game far more than skill player limited. I'm not worried about this position.

DT is our next great effort for next year. Along with some more OT's.

Sleeze has dissipated.

Also understand that there are many valid reasons Bo and Carl don't work here anymore.

While those two were here, if I were a parent whose kid was being recruited by them, knowing what I know, would I have wanted my kid to play at Nebraska? Great question!

On one hand I'm a huge Nebraska fan. On the other hand, I want what's best for my kid.

Fool me once shame on you......well, you know the rest.

Well I would just suggest to everyone who is so convinced the only way Louisville and Petrino could beat us out is by paying the kid, to not let your son go play football for him. I just don't think he's as bad as so many on here would like to believe. Maybe I'm the doorknob.

There's a lot of disbelief by fans of XYZ school that good players will go to "lesser" schools. Blue bloods, must and will dominate. That is less and less the case these days, although a lot of the "sexy" blue bloods in hot recruiting areas are still doing well.

OU has suffered from this quite a bit since the early days of Stoops.

Great point about OU, now they have to battle A&M, Baylor, TCU, etc. Everyone is feeling it these days.

Q: Does Petrino still do sleazy recruiting?

A: Does Petrino suck at riding a bike? (This one is always worth an encore.)
