Is it possible that Riley would grab a transfer QB?

If he's not satisfied with what he has?

Some names w/ eligibility this fall:

Kevin Hogan (stan)
Everett Golson (ND)
Tre Roberson (FCS)
Daxx Garman (Okla st)
David Watford (UVA)
Trent Hosick (JUCO)
Connor Brewer (zona)

Watford, Garman, Brewer are 100% transferring. Hosick is a 2015 JUCO recruit that has not signed anywhere. The rest are potential transfers. Oregon just landed Vernon Adams a month ago.

If Riley ever went for a transfer QB, Hogan would be his best option.

Kevin Hogan is the only one who could potentially be an upgrade.

Lol at Trent Hosick. That kid should be playing in D2.

We have 5 scholarship QBs so unless somebody leaves this spring I don't see any chance that we take a transfer. Why would we? I don't see a Russell Wilson on that list. I would much rather he spend his time developing what we have because I believe we have plenty of talent to work with. Most of those guys wouldn't make the two deep and Hogan isn't going anywhere.

Combining the 2015 recruits and current players on scholarship puts Riley at 88, meaning 3 players have to leave or have their scholarships pulled. To bring in a transfer QB would requires a fourth player to leave or lose a scholarship.

Every year there are transfers and medicals. I suspect that Riley already has a pretty good idea of who might be done but there's no way he takes a transfer QB at this point. IMO the only reason he went after Burrow was as a political move. Burrow IMO has very good talent but we have as many scholarship QBs as we can afford to carry already. Maybe too many.

QB is one spot you probably have to carry too many guys. They tend to leave if they don't play - and you can't afford to be bad at QB when forced to go to 2nd or 3rd string.

Just ask Ohio State.

I haven't heard anything negative re: Bush and Stanton. As I have stated before, I am holding out hope!

I think it's easier to bring on a summer QB transfer when you can surround him with a bunch of veteran players who know the offense well. In a transition year like this one, you're just adding to the uncertainty. Plus if you bring someone in, he better be a lot better than what you had coming back, otherwise it can hurt team chemistry.
