Agreed - Nebraska will be one of them.
It's funny to read these comments about how bad these offenses are when our own team is statistically worse. We average 19 points per game, good for 116th ranked. Iowa is 103rd and Wisconsin is 59th. The difference is these two don't turn the ball over like a bunch of damn fools. Ok, they do but we are even worse at 124th in the country.
I agree with regard to points. But their offense is literally dead last in the nation for yards. While our points have been horrible we are averaging 100 yards more per game. Iowa plays offense to punt.
I am not defending Iowa. They do this almost every year which leads you to believe it's in their DNA. I get doing what they do to win a game, say if your qb goes down or it's in the final stages, but to not try to better yourself beyond that overall is peculiar.
Every coach has their ceiling but it seems Ferentz is self imposed.
The Iowa offense is worse. The only reason Iowa averages a few more points per game is because they play clean (fewest penalties of any FBS team entering yesterday's game), and benefit hugely from elite defense and special teams play that provides shorter fields and additional scoring.
I was happy and sad watching. Always happy to see Wisconsin lose but sad that Iowa couldn’t have lost also!

See. We totally get this. As maddening as the Iowa offense is to Iowa fans, the way Iowa wins games must be maddening to other fanbases. FWIW, watching Nebraska find new and inventive ways to lose games is one of our favorite pastimes.
And obsessing over Nebraska is as Iowa as it gets.
I'm not asking you to trash Maryland. I'm asking this board to stop saying that the B1G West is so awful.
It may not be pretty, but it's not easy to just waltz into the West and win games. Unless you're a very elite team. They win most of their Bowl games.

The difference between our offense and Iowa’s is that we can improve . This is our floor. Meanwhile this is Iowa’s ceiling and unlikely to change until Kirk and Brian are gone.
Not really trashing Maryland. Just acknowledging my assessment of them winning the West (if they were in it) was likely mistaken.
As for the West it's wide open. Iowa might be the best but hardly great as evidenced by the thrashing that Penn State gave them. I don't know if we'll beat them but think it's certainly possible. Looking forward to see how the rest of the season plays out in the West at any rate. If we can get but Northwestern and Purdue we'll be in pretty good shape to compete.

Iowa is sitting at 6-1 with a favorable schedule ahead. I don’t know how they keep doing it, but they are in position to go 8-4 at worse, with 11-1 still on the table.
I mean - I suppose that logic makes sense when the most popular shirt in Iowa says “Punting is winning” 😁
He sticks to his guns and it works against “like” competition but this philosophy will never allow Iowa to break into an upper level of programs. BUT, it will keep big bonuses coming in and his tool of a son employed with a hefty, completely un-deserved salary. So a win-win for the Ferentz family but not-so-much for the fans. One possession games could easily be turned on their head and 6-1 could be 2-4 reaaaal quick. Enjoy it while you got it. Would love to be sitting at 6-1 right now in Lincoln.

I don’t disagree. Before 2 years ago this philosophy allowed Iowa to beat some juggernauts but would lose to equal teams. Now it’s the opposite. 69-2 since 2015 in games Iowa has led by 8 or more.
I think Kirk is on a personal crusade to go 11-1 scoring the fewest points possible.

Kirk has no choice to play this way he has a really good punter and good defense and has to play keep away as long as possible on offense…
Not Including Saturday’s game , which Wisky QB went out of the game with a broken wrist, Ioway is going to play 5 offenses that are 83 or worse in the country and it just happens Nebraska is one of them..
Only juggernaut Ferentz has beaten was in 2017 against Ohio St.. Who else has he beaten that‘s been ranked in the top 10?
I also might add who has he beaten that stayed in the top 10 at seasons end?
