Iowa Legislation Proposal

What a bunch of whiners. The Nebraska fans need a apology from Cooter Ray Cornholer and The Iowa nice guy or whatever the fool calls himself

What a waste of tax payer money. I don't care if this only took a collective hour. That's a waste of an hour.

Also, the universities won't do anything with Stanford. Unless it's sports. What???

Oh lord. Don't state legislatures have better things to work on than halftime shows?

And to think Iowa fans came over here and gave us grief about the pinned post at the top about them. Yeah, not even close.

Here I thought Republicans were endowed with thick skin and took exception to all the liberals whining about political correctness, but I guess it turns out that you can't dress up like a farmer and a cow during halftime show either, at least according to some Republicans, because that is offensive.

This is a bi-partisan bill. Both Dems and Reps put this up.

A Republican in Iowa is only a Republican because they are slightly less liberal than the Socialist Democrats.

The guy who put it forward is a Republican from what I read/recall in the article, and there is no mystery as to why the bill is 'bipartisan' since it is pro-Iowa. No Iowa politician is going to lose face by not supporting a pro-Iowa bill. In any case, my statement was an attempt to troll, and I am not going to try to defend it or argue it further as I don't necessarily stand behind it ;).

The actions of one Republican or a group of them in Iowa does not speak for Republicans as a whole. Of course, I think the same stands for Democrats and I wish we'd get over the sort of facile generalizations I just engaged in. I only did it because a number of people on this forum are not averse to doing so.

And that is exactly what the Stanford band wanted - attention and a reaction from Iowa. Sometimes you just need to let things go...

This is why kids are demanding somebody's head rolls when they get offended about something. Instead of being shown it's best to turn the other cheek, some dumb shit politician(s) takes the time to do this and kids see it and mimic it later on in life. Now, when somebody is offended, somebody has to be fired and there needs to be hearings held, etc. When enough of the brats go to the same school, you get Missouri.

The best is when people get offended for a group of people they have no attachment/ties to. Like if a midget tells a midget joke, then someone tells them they should not do it. So many bleeding hearts with their feelings exposed. It's annoying.

People who act all pissed off about things they are not all pissed off about in order to get attention and try to appear to be compasionate about something they really don't give a f*ck about pisses me off.

How did I miss this, and how is it you only have 547 likes? Seriously, that ain't right.

Sparky: Can you merge the new Iowa thread with this one? I really dislike looking at a Husker board and seeing Iowa several times at the top of the board with thread titles. Thanks!
Sorry I missed your tag yesterday. I'll try to keep up. Cool

The only thing weirder that the Iowa legislature taking this on is that Stanford allows a marching band on the field during halftime -- which might be broadcast nationwide -- that they clam isn't their band.

I really don't care what the band does, but if it's your schools' turn to put a band on the field, and you put what basically is a club band out there, that reflects on your school.

If they're amazing, that reflects on your school. if they pull sophomoric stunts while on the field, that reflects on your school. It's weird that they apparently trot them out there year after year but basically wash their hands of whatever they decide to do while they're out there. Admittedly, I haven't lived on the left coast so I'm really not in tune with the left coast mindset.

I would dis-agree to the extent that the coasts are constantly painting everyone in between the coasts as backwards and racist.

I think they knew it would never pass so they were just making a statement.
