I have the pride, the privilege, nay, the pleasure of introducing to you a pair of new staff members to Inside Nebraska this afternoon.
Please welcome Jansen Coburn and Trenton Bond to the team!
Jansen and Trenton will both be part-time contributors for us. Jansen will serve as a staff writer and video producer, and Trenton will serve as a graphics designer and a social media manager.
Jansen is going to provide help in both football and recruiting coverage as his two main areas of focus, in addition to helping out as needed with volleyball, men’s basketball and women’s basketball. He is also going to give us great value with his experience in video and podcast editing.
We are always going to have a balance between written and digital content, but increasing our digital presence is one of the key visions I have for this site. You guys have been awesome and really responsive to our video and podcast formats. When I asked for you to subscribe to our YouTube page in the Husker Hurry Up this morning, you guys jumped up and we got more than 50 subscribers since 6:30 a.m. today. So here's another shameless plug to subscribe to our YouTube, where Jansen will be involved in helping us grow.
I wanted to target someone with his experience and talent in that arena. Jansen was well-vetted and comes to us highly recommended by those on the ground in Lincoln who I trust. He is a video content production intern with Hudl, which is a very selective process, so that should hopefully give an idea of what he brings to the table. I encourage you to take a look at one of the videos he produced for Corn Crazed about a year ago to get a sense of the added dimension he’s going to give us.
Trenton has more than six years of experience in designing social media graphics for Twitter and Instagram, focused on college football players and college football recruits. He has spent most of his focus designing graphics for Ohio State players and recruiting targets, but he has created those for players all over the country.
He has built a ton of really strong connections with recruits nationwide, and he was inherently valuable for me in more ways than one during my three years on the Ohio State beat. He was a tremendous help, even though we never worked together directly. In addition to helping us build connections in recruiting, Trenton will give us a boost in my goal of providing some more aesthetics on the site and on our social media pages.
Jansen and Trenton will be briefly introducing themselves in a moment in this thread to tell you a little more about themselves. I encourage you to give Jansen a follow on Twitter (@JansenCoburn) and check out Trenton’s work and give him a follow on Twitter (@bondedits15) and Instagram (@bondedits) as well.
As for our own social media channels, there are good reasons for why we have not created any of those yet. But we will have them up and running as soon as possible. Once again, I’m asking for some undeserved patience there.
This gives us an initial four-man staff that includes myself and @Nate Clouse. I believe we have a good core foundation to start with. As for the rest of our staff, we are still in the process of assembling our full team here. It’s been a slow process because I want to assemble the right team. That includes properly vetting the candidates I have – both the ones in-market and out-of-market – and being able to meet face-to-face with them before I move to Lincoln, which is one of the key reasons I’m out here this week before moving here permanently in July.
I want to tell you more about staff plans and would like to be completely transparent with all of you. But it’s better if I keep it closer to the vest for the time being. And, yes, I’m sure you’re tired of hearing this but: I’m very excited with where we are at in that regard right now. Even more so than I was when I said that last week in the forum.
To those of you who have decided to stick with us so far, thank you. For those who are still on the fence about staying with Rivals but haven’t left yet, thank you. We are going to continue putting in the work to show you, not just tell you, that we are going to maintain and build out this site.

p.s. Anyone who can accurately #NameThatMovie that I referenced in the first sentence without Googling it gets some extra bonus points from me.
