On top of he cord cutting, Fox Sports radio just said that the last NBA tv rights deal was so over paid by MSNESPN in an attempt to block FS1 from broadcasting that it simply not only poked holes in the mothership but had set an enormous time bomb that is just now exploding.

It's all a timing issue given the NBA had the worst ratings in a good number of years etc

Liberalization + NBA deal = Mike Conley being at one point the highest paid player in the NBA.
