Interesting Breakdown for future of CFB

Some P5 games get left out? No non-conference games?

Meh.
Here's a 77-team Super League plan, based on traditional conferences but with 11 in each.
One exhibition game, two non-con games, 10 conference games (round-robin).
Everybody gets 7 homes games (one exhibition, six regular-season).
Two bye weeks built in.
  • WEEK ZERO games scheduled last Saturday in August against lower-division teams at Super League home stadiums.
  • 2-game non-conference schedule among the Super League (1 home/1 away) to help with seeding later for possible wild card.
    • Matchups would be determined based on previous year's results.
      • Eighth-place team from X Conference plays eight-place teams from Y and Z conference.
  • 10-game conference season determines league champion.
  • Seven conference champs plus five wild cards make the 12-team playoffs
    • Seeded by independent committee
      • Top four seeds receive byes
      • 5 vs. 12, 6 vs. 11, 7 vs. 10, 8 vs. 9 in first-round games played second Saturday of December at home field of lowest-seeded team
        • Winners play top four seeds third Saturday in December at home field of lowest-seeded team
      • Semifinals played as they are now, at rotating New Year's Six venues on New Year's Day
      • Finals played second Monday of January at rotating neutral venues
  • Nebraska would play all its former Big 8 opponents every year, plus BYU, Utah and CSU.
  • If the service academies want to be a part of it:
    • Air Force gets SMU's spot in SWC
    • Army, Navy take East Carolina and Appalachian's spots in Big East

These ideas are so dumb. There's no Super League that's possible because you need to get every conference and every school to agree with it, which is never going to happen.

What if I told you my name was John Swofford?
:)
Have a great day. Yes, of course it has no chance of happening. But thanks for the reminder. It's a fantasy thread. You don't wanna play? That's cool, too.

we wouldn’t care if you said your name was Bear Claw Chris Lapp, blood kin to the same grizzer that bit Jim Bridger’s ass.
